While that sounds logical, that is not always the case. SCT did Bassendean to Midland a couple of weekends back and they were operating from Freo depot.

WTF? Two of the 4 SCT depots are along the Mandurah Line, so woundn't it be smart for SCT to do the Mandurah Line?

Cheers!

That's not the way it works... This is the PTA, there are three PTA contractors in the Perth area all of which are able to do rail. (Although PATH now being far smaller than it was is less likely as they won't have enough resources in most cases)

I'd love to see the running sheets for that evening and how long they give drivers to do an all stops to Mandurah! Don't imagine it to be anywhere near as quick as by train, car or an old 107 or 867...

One would assume SCT, I doubt Swan will do both lines as it would again come back down to resources...

In previous rail replacements, things have been spilt with the 909 running Perth to Cockburn Central, Cockburn Central to Rockingham & Rockingham to Mandurah. Also the old 867 Mandurah Express took something like 2 hours (good chance for a sleep). So would an all stop service go against any PTA/TWU rules?

The 867 Express was actually only about 1h 15m at the most from memory.

Remembering it's a Sunday evening, they can probably get away with running the whole line. If it was during the day, yeah I'd say it'd be a different story.

Just a reminder... Midland line is currently out between Bassendean and Midland. Also the Fremantle line will be closed between Showgrounds and Fremantle this evening.

Rail Replacement notifications

Route 905 operates between Perth and Bassendean, operated by PATH.
While routes 906 and 907 are operated by sWAn, operating between Perth, Cannington and Fremantle.
The SCT operate route 906 as well.

Dont believe everything you read 1809 ...
I had 12 buses from my depot 1465,695,727,645,706,1471,1468,and a couple more on 905s
ADAMS had about the same on 905's a couple of coaches .. ex 543? and an ex canberra bus ..
and i saw 1 path bus the whole day .. from Bayswater Depot (1022)

I'd hate to steal your thunder d_train, but 1022 is not a Bayswater bus, nor a PATH bus. It is in actual fact a Swan bus! But for PATH's size in comparison with Swan and SCT, you can't really expect them to contribute the same amount as the other operators.

I didn't see one single bus on rail when I came through the City this morning, but I guess that is expected at 8am in the morning. Buses don't grow on trees and drivers aren't trained as firemen!

If i heard correctly today at the depot Tp3005 managed to some rail replacement as well a few others Path buses .
Since this happened at peak hour ,there would not have been alot spare buses\drivers anyway at the depot to allocate for rail replacment.
Did see alot of Adams buses on RR on wellington st .

Like the idiot in an Adams bus that turned right in front of oncoming traffic into WSBS? And to think I did him a favour by letting him across into lane 2 so he could make the turn
