Rail Observations March/April 2012

Post by CityRail »

I have received a reliable information that Museum Station will be closed tomorrow afternoon, but I can't find there's trackwork on the City Circle Line.
Can anyone tell me what's happened there?

Olympic Park services has now been suspended due to heavy rainfall (causing flooding?) as well as the Banksia Station is now closed.
Also all suburban services are now showing "Delays" as the result of heavy rainfall...

Waratah A9 at Central lunch time yesterday, getting ready to head out on staff training. "Train in test" signs on the doors.

4V set at FMC this afternoon with ATP TEST TRAIN and DTRS TEST TRAIN stickers on the doors and some windows.

That's Y1 at Flemington, and it's a 3V not 4V. It went to Blacktown around 19:30 and performed testing between Doonside and St Marys.

A10 is heading to Sydney this coming week on 13/3 (GM059-12).

Hence A9 is going into service, finally being able to place rosters 1678 (weekday 678) and 2678 (weekend 678) on to an A set. See STN0530.

This will be the last S to A set run in sector 2 for some time (~12 months). There'll still be new A sets coming out in sector 2 on the isolated rosters (namely 1680 and 2680), but the upcoming nine S to A set deployments will be in Sector 3A.

Has anyone else noticed this minor bug, as seen on this A4 IDI?

There's a surprise trackwork happened last night when buses have to be replacing trains between Homebush and Flemington stations on the South Line.
The Western, Blue Mountains Line was 25 minutes late and the South Line train had to operate via the freight line :!:
They claimed that was due to overhead repairs at Homebush. Can anyone tell me what's exactly happened to that South Line train via the freight line? Must be exciting to use some unused electric wiring section after x years of idling!

Saw a 2 Car ML050 stopping alongside Sutherland Station Platform 3 at 12.00pm. Anyone knows what's happened?

Also is L1 - L3 in maintainance or something else happened that the entire line was run by Tangaras and Oscars?

Caught newly delivered OSCar H45 (coupled with H8) on a Epping to Wyong (via Central and Gordon) service yesterday afternoon. Gotta love that 'new train' smell :D

Some signal problem around Ashfield this afternoon, affecting all lines west and East Hills. "Major delays" showing on the status boards

Saw an 8xS on the up from Penrtih at 1635, terminating at Seven Hills.

Two down V sets through Penrith around 16:35 and a couple of minutes later - presumably the services due at 15.59 and 16.20 ??
