1955's last day in service

Post by Eagle Eye »

Thursday 29th December 2011 was the last day that MAN SG280H saw in service. I was fortunate to ride her on her last afternoon in service, a round-trip B10 from Magill to West Lakes and back to Magill.

At the Magill terminus:

The beautiful interior of these great girls. I still prefer the bodies of these strong and solid buses unlike their modern counterparts:

'Smarter, faster ticketing is on the way' but not for 1955:

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year, but sadly she wouldn't live to see the new year:

Turning back towards Newton Depot, her final resting place:

Thanks to SL200-1880 for letting me grab some great shots on that day. :D

Fantastic last day shots of 1955. Have travelled on this bus several times before and it's a really good bus.

Great work

Maybe it should be sent to LCB's Morphettville Depot where it could be put to good use-they could do with some extra buses.

They've just taken over Southlinks 2350 and that seems to be getting plenty of use. And 1955 was always one of the best of the MAN artics. Give it another life, please.

Wow, it is so tragic that these beauties are going. Can anyone please tell me how many SG280Hs are still roaring around? I saw 2 today at and near Victoria Square, however I didn't see their numbers. :(

Look up S.A.Fleet lists for all 3 companies to get a pretty up to date list of the number still in service.

Glad I saw it yesterday then, real shame I didn't have my camera with me at the time!

You would think registrar of motor vehicles and manager of fleet and depots (DPTI)
