I saw it in the exact same spot 2 days ago, by the way its sitting it doesn't look to healthy. It's a AEC Swift looks like a 400 series.

AEC Swift AH691, with Denning & Co. S.A. body. It does look a little tired, but its done well running from Perth to the Gold Coast thats a big trip for an old girl at 70kph at that age. Good photos too by the way.

cheers

I saw this exact same bus in the same place while I was at the Gold Coast a few days ago.
"100 speed limited... by drivetrain."

I will report and cover any significant bus events from the Armidale region.

This is not an AEC. Going by the wheel centres, it is a Daimler Roadliner.

Having a closer look, I think you are right. Note:

. the front door appears to have been converted from a jackknife door (in lieu of a two-leaf one the Swifts had)
. there are two driver's vents at the front plus the top of the vents are lower than the top of the headlights (there is only an offside one on a Swift plus it is positioned higher)
. the hatch immediately behind the rear axle is identical to a Roadliner
. at the end of the rub-strip is an intake grille, again as per a Roadliner rather than a Swift

There ya go! How's that for rivet counting!

Interesting to note how the rear is sitting very low. Were Roadliners airbag equipped? Swifts were on steel springs (coil).
This is indeed one great discovery to see a Roadliner still plying along. These had a Cummins engine and 3 speed Allison auto? This would probably make it more suitable as a long distance camper than an AEC Swift.

I thought they had 4sp Allisons - either way, yes, definitely better suited to highway running than a ZF torque converter. This makes it only the second Daimler Roadliner known to have been registered in WA.

I hope one of the locals is able to get the gen.

I'd love to assist but regrettably I am now very much back at work. Somebody else down here should be able to take a peek if it is still there...
