For sale in Tassie - Gumtree and eBay

Post by sharp77 »

Trawling through Gumtree and eBay, I found a number of motorhomes and even just odds and ends that I thought might interest most of you. Not sure of the origins of some (as in ex company), but it's rather interesting. Some haven't got pictures either, but I'll post them here for reference. Check the links for a description. Can anyone ID any of them more specifically than I already may have/have?

http://tas.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicl ... Z317207435 - Denning ex-speedway transport
http://tas.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicl ... Z331391946 - $10 school bus seats, no pics
http://tas.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicl ... Z276287391 - 1951 Bedford bus owner wanting door. Can someone ID this Bedford? (unlikely given its state). ex-MTT?
http://tas.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicl ... Z306153169 - 40ft Hino camper
http://tas.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicl ... Z330487133 - 38ft Hino camper
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Original-Hob ... 0912295188 - original Hobart double-decker tram Seat
http://tas.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicl ... Z335108486 - 1975 Bedford Freighter
http://tas.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicl ... Z334383836 - ex Redline
http://hobart.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Veh ... Z326180962 - 37ft Hino camper, quite complete, ex school bus (who?)
http://hobart.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Veh ... Z333167904 - No pics, but I'm intrigued.
http://hobart.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Veh ... Z329958149 - 38ft Hino motorhome
http://hobart.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Veh ... Z328620871 - Mercedes motorhome
http://hobart.gumtree.com.au/c-ViewAdLa ... =317511224 - Hino Rainbow ex #79 Metro Tasmania, and Captain Fell's Tours

There were lots of Toyota Coasters, so I didn't bother posting them here. But I'll tell you what, some of those prices..."Tell 'em they're dreamin'!". I would've also posted this in the Buy/Sell/Swap area, but it seems too Tassie-focussed to belong there. If an admin throws this topic over there though, no worries.

#1 - Saw that in Launceston last trip (pics on another thread) parked outside Lee's Coaches yard
#3 - Many operators (uncluding Metro) had these CAC Bedfords
#5 - NOW THAT is what we need for restoration, considering the one in Clarendon Vale is NOT for sale
#7 - ex Doug Wisby (Margate)
#11 - Another BT51, but too overpriced for what we need it for
#12 - ex Hobart Coaches #5 / #52
#13 - Now that wouldn't be to bad. I was thinking about one of those yesterday @ work.

Well its pretty cheap for a full bus. Whilst a bit more difficult I reckon it'd do well. Hopefully, with the BBQs that've been happening some money is in the works and 3.5k isn't too far off.

They seem like a better option for some small routes, and much more cost effective than full-sized diesel buses in the middle of weekdays. Some buses I've been on have been empty. In any such case though, the Rainbows aren't great, and Toyota Coasters would be the way to go.

Metro used to run (4) of these, on Springfield Hail & Ride. Later, one was transferred to Hobart Coaches which we used on the once a month trip to Colebrook. Very nice & comfortable, much better than Coasters.

Tell you one thing, the starting bid for that tram seat certainly raises the net worth of Metro, there must be half a dozen of them floating around the joint.

Yeah, it's a shame they weren't very useful. I did hear that there weren't many drivers who could drive them, as they were manuals. But I reckon nowadays you could easily find a small bus like the Rainbow with an automatic transmission.

They still have some tram seats out at Springfield?

If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's got green stripes up the side of it, a B6?

Would only take one or two keen persons to dip into their savings and its a done deal. Recover a fair bit selling off the fittings too.

The Geeveston one could be the B58/ Domino 60 seater that Transhuon and Roberts have operated in Huonville perhaps?

I do recall a PMC Commutter Volvo for sale down the Huon but not sure if it was a B6FA or a B6M that had green stripes on the body work.

- that is the one Neil shot in service recently and is only a 57 seater, the Roberts one was in fact a 60 seater which firts the bill.
