Also the 5 scania tags are still being built for red bus. These were at designline, but have gone to kiwibus to be completed. 1 is due soon.

Wow. get permission! i want to see it. lol
Re: General - South Island (Part 3)
Thats correct, Country of Origin shows Germany as that was where the Chassis was made (MAN), but the actual bus was built by MCV in Egypt.

Re: General - South Island (Part 3)
I wonder if MAN arranged this so they dont lose leopard as a chassis customer but dont have to deal with Designline? Its a great looking vehicle anyway
Re: General - South Island (Part 3)
Wouldn't have said so as Designline rebuilt the front section of most of the chassis themselves. MCV would just be supplied a continual supply of chassis and when an order comes in they just body it. MCV are much bigger than Designline are. Designline is a largely "made to order" business. MCV tend to just build buses and the allocate them when an order comes in. Hence why the lead times between order and delivery are so short, as the bus is invariably already assembled and waiting. I believe in this case the wait was 8 weeks, mainly taken up by paintwork and transport!

Re: General - South Island (Part 3)
Cheers for that bit of info. I assume then these buses are cheaper to buy if they aren't "made to order"?
Re: General - South Island (Part 3)
Yes, your right. MAN did organise this with Leopard, so I was told today.reece_555 wrote:I wonder if MAN arranged this so they dont lose leopard as a chassis customer but dont have to deal with Designline? Its a great looking vehicle anyway
Re: General - South Island (Part 3)

Re: General - South Island (Part 3)
No sorry, I was passing through on the motorway with just a 5 sec glimpse to see it was a BCI. Two doors as single door buses arent allowed on contract services with an exemption of the four "longer distance" services.

Re: General - South Island (Part 3)
Two weeks ago I spent about 16 hours in Dunedin and spent a bit of refreshing the Dunedin bus scene. Some of the Citibus vehicles now look rather tatty dents down the side and general repairs not being done. Citibus's operation when it was DCC was a very tidy now that accolade belongs to Ritchies Coachlines. To see a Tag working on the 40 Pine Hill - Lookout Point service was just unbelievable I did get photos and will post a small selection of buses now so enjoy.

Re: General - South Island (Part 3)
The Otago Regional Council (ORC) is ushering in the New Year with the latest group of GoBus improvements to city bus services.
The changes, which take effect from January 28, are part of ORC’s continuous improvement plan for passenger transport services in the city, and feature improvements to Saturday frequencies and routes.
The new services will mean passengers will enjoy faster, more direct travel to and from several Dunedin suburbs and the city centre.
Southern routes to Mosgiel, Fairfield, Abbotsford, and Brighton, will also gain some additional services running seven days a week.
The Saturday services increase the focus on the city centre and university precinct as passenger transport hubs.
Seven loop services are being replaced with 13 more direct services on Saturdays, which are changing to hourly services and will, in most cases, follow weekday routes.
Most Saturday services will now run to hourly schedules.
Three other routes, presently weekday only, will gain Saturday services:
• Ocean Grove
• Bradford/Belleknowes/City Rise
• Concord/Kaikorai Valley
Peninsula, Port Chalmers/Sawyers Bay will also get improved Saturday services.
All Port Chalmers services on Saturdays will cover a greater part of Sawyers Bay than currently, plus Careys Bay.
Most of the new routes travel from the suburb into the centre of town, either to the Octagon or University, then return out to the suburb.
Brockville, Halfway Bush, and St Kilda become three separate routes on Saturdays.
In addition to the route and frequency improvements to bus services, ORC will install at least 50 bus shelters throughout the Dunedin network, as part of a programme of installations over the next six months.
ORC chairman Stephen Woodhead said the improvements recognised that bus services in Dunedin needed to keep pace with people’s changing lifestyles, and offer more direct and frequent opportunities for travel.
“We are making a significant investment of about $1 million a year to create substantially improved services, which will provide a lot more convenience for weekend users who want to come into the city.”
“ORC is committed to developing a modern, efficient, and easy-to-use bus system within prudent spending limits. These changes will add to a large suite of improvements that have been implemented in recent years, which encourage more people to take the bus to get around Dunedin,” Mr Woodhead said.

There was an ADL in Metrolink colours at Mount Maunganui. It has yet to have the Metrolink titles applied. Does anyone know what it was doing there?
