Adams and Westwide 'Five Cities' Bus Tour - 14/01/2012

Postby Mr OC Benz » Tue Oct 11, 2011 9:56 pm

Hi all,

Bring on MkII of the 'Five Cities' series! On this tour we present Adams Coachlines and Westwide Bus and Charter and their range of buses from various cities across Australia. Of course, to make things more interesting, we have a range of different vehicles on offer as well as the odd surprise!

Featured buses are...

1. From Canberra, we have the newly acquired Renault PR100.2!
2. Also from Canberra, we have the Mercedes Benz O305G!
3. From Sunbury Bus Service in Victoria, we have the Volvo B10M Fuji articulated bus!
4. From Adelaide we have the Volvo B58 artic!
5. From Perth we have the Renault PR100.2!
6. From Geraldton, we have the ex-Geraldton Bus Service Nissan UD JP251!

Our chariot for the day is to be announced!

During the tour, guests will get the opportunity to deeply explore the buses owned and operated by Westwide Bus and Charter. Based in Wangara, they provide charter and school services to the North of Perth. With a range of vehicles from various places, this is the greatest time to explore and detail their buses! While at the depot, you will get the opportunity to experience some Westwide buses as we take them for a small trip around the block.

Once we have finished at Westwide, we then travel to Malaga Markets where there'll be plenty of time to enjoy a good lunch.

We then make our way to ADAMS Coachlines, situated in Malaga, north of Perth. This recently constructed depot is home to the fleet of Adams. Various buses and coaches from around Australia. You'll get the chance to experience some!

A hire bus will be from ADAMS to take us to the above operators.

This tour will be held on the 14th of January 2012 which is a Saturday.

Departure is to be confirmed, but most likely from the West End of Barrack St Jetty at 10am. See below for payment details.

It may be a hot day and we recommend that our guests are kept hydrated. Therefore, bottled water will be available to purchase for $1 on the day. See the tour coordinator for the day to purchase one. No other food and drink is allowed on board the buses.

Any questions or queries, please send me a PM.

A little under two weeks till this tour.

Tour starts at 10AM from Barrack St Jetty (West End). Please be there 30mins before for those who need to make payment or 20mins before for those that have already paid.

Please make sure you (if you haven't paid) to print off and bring your invoice, or if you have paid to bring your receipt. Once you have obtained a receipt, you will then get a ticket which you need to keep for all the tours you attend and needs to be shown at the beginning of each tour.

For those that just "rock up" on the day without an invoice or receipt, you will be forced to pay full price for that particular tour and no discounts will be offered for the other tours if you don't have an invoice.

The tour will finish around 6pm although it depends on how constructive the day is, how many questions there are, how much interest is generated with particular buses and etc. It is fairly flexible so the finishing time could be anywhere between 5pm to 7pm, but we are aiming for a 6pm finish.

For all those attending this tour, please be advised that one of the operators that we are visiting has requested that everyone must wear reflective vests while on premises. Those who have their own reflective vests should bring and wear them while at the depots. Those who do not have reflective vests will be provided one but numbers are limited.

Cheers.

Hi guys,

I'd like to thank everyone for attending today's tour. It was great fun having you all on board. It was a hot day as most would be aware, but we survived!

Many thanks to Westwide and their drivers for volunteering to open the yard in Wangara for us to browse through and ride in some of their buses. Greatly appreciated and many thanks to the Boss who gave permission for us to visit. It was a very interesting depot full of variety, not a fancy one, but a classic typical private operator one. I'm sure most people enjoyed the visit there.

I'd also like to thank Adams Coachlines for allowing us to visit his depot in Malaga, a recently built depot completed in March 2011 was well represented. Many thanks to our drivers and management. The range of fleet and depot presentation is no doubt the best in the private operator industry in Perth. I was really impressed with the layout and the buses. It was also great to meet the man himself, Adam.

These companies and their representatives did what the aim of the tour was, to create a good reputation and representation of the company to not only the enthusiasts on tour from various states across Australia, but also for the locals. Staff were very friendly and both depots and the buses were in fairly good condition. No doubt we'd consider another visit sometime in the future.

Many thanks to those who attend. See you all tomorrow for Day 2!!!

It was a really good day despite the thirsty weather. Thanks to the organisers and the two operators both of whom provided excellent co-operation.

G'day all,

I would like to thank Westwide Bus & Coach and Adams Coachlines (Adam Barnard) for providing us the opportunity to view and sample their operations and fleet. In particular, I would like to thank Jasper and BusCarl for their respective contributions to this tour. The day went very smoothly and everyone had a great time.

A big thanks goes to Warren Burns from Redlion Bus & Coach for providing the opportunity for us to sample his Denning Landseer double decker (currently for sale, anyone interested?) which was coincidently an ex-Adams Coachlines nit.
