New NightRider route maps

New NightRider route maps have been released on the Metlink website for most routes.

They're now in a similar style to the usual bus maps, as opposed to less detailed strip-map style (silimar to the tram and train maps) that was previously used. This should make it much easier for passengers trying to work out where the buses go, inculding near-by stations and zone information. Hopefully they will be updated at stops in due course as well.

New style maps for 943 (Melton) & 961 (Doncaster) have yet to be uploaded.

The 981 map is misleading, as it implies the route only operates in one direction - however, it would be hard to explain the "figure 8" nature of this route without arrows. The map for 968 meanwhile doesn't show the late evening extension from Croydon to Belgave via Olinda.

#2, may there one day be ones done in the style of the trams/trains where its one sheet. Has running times one side, and summary of frequencies on the other?

FINALLY... new maps. These have been long overdue. I like them, but would have liked to have seen the main "timing points" included as well.

The current NightRider timetables are in wallet size fold-up format, with a the strip map on one side & departure times from etiher terminus on the other, with foonotes trying to describe varations, along with a description of the service and a CBD map. I don't think they are that useful - departure times from the City are easy to remember, but they are little use for someone who might want to board a NightRider at St Kilda or Glen Waverley (for instance). The pocket timetables of the 90s were much better, listing times at all pick-up stops, as well as a route description, plus the CBD map.

I'm not sure if there are main timing points as such - AFAIK, all pick-up stops are treated as timing points. In practice, buses heading out of the City are more likely to run late, while inbound buses may run a few minutes early.

Showing all the individual pick-up locations might have been nice, but might have become too cluttered at that scale.

The map says that to get from the city to Pascoe Vale you need to catch a bus to Broadmeadows, then catch an inbound bus to Pascoe Vale. Is this correct?

The 943 map incorrectly shows the route running via Brooklyn Rd instead of Staughton St.
