You will find, especially in rural areas that many sites are privately owned and the owner of the site has entered into a branding agreement with another company. Bit different to a site being onsold.

Correct.
They are simply agents for Mobil and as I previously stated, were previously agents for Mobilcard which was withdrawn nationally as part of the sale of the metropolitan sites to 7 Eleven.
I read on average fuel cards can provide up to 60% of a regional petrol stations business, therefore these privately owned sites would be silly not to enter into agreements with other companies to protect their business.

I sure hope so, as it'll mean the end of this abortion

The answer to your question can be found on said website here:

Specificaly the bit that says "On October 4th, 2010, the Quix Foodstores business was purchased by 7 Eleven Stores Pty Ltd." Doubt 7Eleven would keep it as a seperate brand.

The Mobil servo at the "Maid and Magpie" intersection (corner Fullarton Rd and North Tce, Kent Town) has the large Mobil sign from above the price board removed. I wait with baited breath to see what will go in there.

Eleven months on and the rebranding exercise has seen a number of Mobil sites here in Melbourne converted to 7 Eleven. The conversions have been more or less cosmetic, although I know of a couple of sites that required remodelling of the former workshop areas in order to convert them into shop space. There have also been some sites that were closed down completely or sold off to other companies.
I believe the first 7 Eleven is soon set to open in the ACT.

There is also a Mobil in the suburb of Spence that is making the local weekly free mag because it is evicting the tenants of the workshop to make a bigger shop. It has also upset the local supermarket fearful of competition. Though if they took the time to see what 7 Elevens stock in Australia their fears are totally unfounded.

Now I don't know if today was a special opening or showing the other 7 Eleven operators what their store look like, but there was quite a few people of Indian people in dinner wear walking around looking & eating.
