Used to catch the trolley bus down to sandy bay beach as kids back in '67.Back then the bus would leave Franklin Square in Elizabeth St. Like the Leyland tipper in the 3rd pic.

At a guess would say it belonged to the H.C.C going by the grey livery but having said that thr H.E.C also had Leylands and Albions which had simular colour on their trucks as well, also the the Leyland and Albion were very simular in looks in those days, so it could also be a Albion in the pic hard to tell i n the photo.Tas Bus Nut wrote:Shows ya what I know. The Two cars in 3rd the white would be a Ford Consul and the rear end of the parked car is a Hillman Minx wagon and the truck could be a Austin dumper.By the time these pictures were taken they would of been transferring some of Launceston trolleybuses back to Hobart for a bit service.A classic look of yesterday year I waiting for part two.

Exactly Vern. I remember them vaguely, but was VERY young. At that age, I wasn't in a position to head to town for photos My restrictions were the SB Bedfords from Moonah Bus Depot on my school run I PERSONALLY, CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF THE OLD GREEN/CREAM TROLLEY & BUS PHOTO ERAvernbale wrote:Wonderful shots, wish i was around when these buses were around
Pictures taken in Sept 1968 Chris. You'll just have to be patient re: Part II Talking to Bruce @ the AGM the other night, he mentioned when he took the pics, the L'ton B.U.Ts were already withdrawn, but he did get some shots of a few parked @ L'ton depot awaiting disposal. As you say though, #237 > #241 had already been transferred to Hobart at that stage.Bedford-29 wrote:.By the time these pictures were taken they would of been transferring some of Launceston trolleybuses back to Hobart for a bit service.A classic look of yesterday year I waiting for part two.

Showing your age now Steve. When I used to catch the Sandy Bay BUS, they used to "terminate" in Davey St (outside Town Hall opp Visitor Info Cnt), then turn into Argyle St. Have some old shots (particularly the Freighter SBs) at that "last" stop. Don't know when the route "changed"stevegj52 wrote:Used to catch the trolley bus down to sandy bay beach as kids back in '67.Back then the bus would leave Franklin Square in Elizabeth St. Like the Leyland tipper in the 3rd pic.

The truck in pic #3 could be a Leyland Riever. Could be an ex HCC truck as all trucks back in those days owned by the HCC were painted in the same grey colour. Also noticed the rego label on the car in front of the pic. Can remember when they all used to be diagonal shaped not like the current rectangle shaped ones.

Re: Trolleybus Heaven #1 - Bruce Tilley Collection
Good get there Steve, it is an Albion, the BCSV were fortunate enough to have Bruce donate his slide collection to them after he had scanned them all - a big job! I've been able to do a hi=res scan of that particular slide and here is the result, and as you can see the truck is an Albion - registered WGS 244.stevegj52 wrote:At a guess would say it belonged to the H.C.C going by the grey livery but having said that thr H.E.C also had Leylands and Albions which had simular colour on their trucks as well, also the the Leyland and Albion were very simular in looks in those days, so it could also be a Albion in the pic hard to tell i n the photo.
yolo seems to be a bit of a trend!
Re: Trolleybus Heaven #1 - Bruce Tilley Collection
The Bruce Tilley Collection is a great source of photos of Hobart trolley buses. Is there a "Trolleybus Heaven #3"?
I notice that there are no photos of the West Hobart or New Town routes - may be they are in series #3?

The Albion was definitely ex-HCC. You can see on LHS door the decal that HCC vehicles used to have. It was a circle with the top half in black with HCC. The bottom half had the vehicle fleet #.
