Is it still worth having this thread?
Reality continues to ruin my life.

The only real observations will be new SMU's and refurbished EMU's, and IMU's! Not much really!

The three observations threads could be merged in one "Observations" thread.

I'm still of the opinion that it should be 2 threads. "Brisbane Transport Bus Observations" and "Rail, Ferry & Private Bus Observations"

Buranda Station finally has a new building. It took QR just over 2 years to do it. It was constructed off site, trucked in then placed onto the platform by crane.
QR has posted video of it on their Facebook page, probably on their website as well but I haven't checked there.

The last regular passenger train from Tennyson leaves there at 3.58pm today, arriving Corinda at 4.01pm.
From Monday under the new timetables there will no longer be timetabled passenger trains between Corinda & Yeerongpilly.
The only time there will be is if services are diverted along the line due to trackwork, network problems or the Steam Train Sunday services, keeping in mind these services do not stop at Tennyson.

It has been noted that the 5:22pm Nambour service has decreased standees tonight (as opposed to the first two nights of the new timetable), but from people I know, quite a number of them has gone back to driving their cars on the Bruce Highway this week.

They'll be back. People will realise the changes are generally working.

Or they will relise that the government has delayed the increase of lanes (from 4 to 6) on the Bruce HWY from Caboolture to Sunshine Coast for a unknown amount of years. And perfer to stand on a moving train then sit in a traffic jam lol :P

It still isn't enough. New housing estates and new high density apartments are going up in increasing numbers between the Pine River and north to Caloundra and we still have a very old model of running buses every hour until around 7pm at night. This is not enough to convert people from the car. Add to that timetables are not clockface and easy to commit to memory and you have a system bound to fail.

In saying that, I have noticed over the last 2 years that alot of services now have decent loads and go-cards are helping speed up trips.
Would you have a look at that K-Whopper hallin' that Wriggle Wagon hes got it to the floor and looking for more!

If you look at the weekend timetables (and weekday off-peak) the headways are every 90 minutes (exception being the new daytime Gympie North service slotted in the morning and afternoons). I do agree with you that the TT isn't clockface overall (46 min peak gap followed by a 22 min gap).

Speaking of things, I hadnt experienced the 5:22pm service myself as I usually catch the earlier trains 2-3 days a week, but speaking with a few fellow commuters (both Caboolture and Sunshine Coast) are discussing about handing in shift changes at their workplace to starting earlier and finishing earlier to get earlier trains in. So there should be some more standing space available on both the 5:22 Nambour and the 5:49 Gympie come next week.

It was doing the 7:53am Nambour counter-peak shuttle.

Commuters could get a reprieve

Sunshine Coast commuters could get a reprieve from overcrowded trains with news Queensland Rail is reviewing the train timetable.

Sunshine Coast commuter and Palmwoods residents Jeff Addison said he heard the good news after a conversation with QR Chief Operations officer Kevin Wright when he was told there would be a fix to the 5.20pm train service from the City to Nambour.

The train has been labelled by commuters as the "Bombay Express" due to immense crowding with the train operating close to its maximum capacity with 900 people on board.

Last night on the 5.08pm CabX service, just before Dakabin, there was a medical emergency in my carriage. As luck would have it, standing right next to the pax that was having the issue was a fire officer who was able to provide assistance.

The patient was stabalised at Dakabin and then we moved up to Narangba to meet the ambulance (and to move onto dual carriageway, no doubt, allowing other trains past).

QR staff were absolutely fantastic through the entire event, despite pax starting to grumble. Every minute or so they kept people up to date with what was happening (as much as they could) and were friendly and courteous.

Well done QR.

Got news that afternoon peak trains were temporarily suspended due to a fire at Mayne control. Trains are now moving again, although with delays.
