Time to sell the Bova!

Post by funbus »

I know what everyone thinks of these on the forum, but they are a great bus if you do like the look of them, and with a bit of creativity, this bus could look as good as this fully sprayed and refurbed one on show here!

*****Selling Due to lazy drivers demanding auto's only!!******   :|

Call me weird, I dont give a XXX, but I actually like the flying condoms, I think they are unique, and were way ahead of their time. Anyone who has seen the haidleys warwick Bovas will agree

I like them as well. I used to like seeing the Bus Asutralia ones come through the town where I lived regularly in the mid to late 80s.

Check out the following images, the latest bova, and the red one, was one of two I tried to buy about 3 years ago, couldn't get anyone to finance a Bova, "Go buy a new BCI" well give you the cash, but shove the bovas up ur arse.
The two grand touring units were BRILLIANT, anyone know where they ended up. One had been retrofitted with an 0404 benz dash.

Gday All
I know this is an old post but it is relevant to my recent aquisition.
My father has driven tour coaches in NZ for many years so as kids we were bought up around coaches.
With a change of life and pace my wife and I have embarked on the journey of travelling around Australia in a Motorhome.
This was a long process and as our kids are now getting to the age they can do their own things it seems the right decision for us.
After making a list of essentials, likes and could haves we looked at MANY coaches from unconverted ex to

ur coaches, to partially converted to cruise liners on wheels. Working as a heavy vehicle Auto Electrician in the mining sector means electronic engine control systems do not concern me.
After settling on a few must haves we came across a 1985 BOVA Futura chassis number XL9AB21CG03003350 running a 270HP cummins and 5 speed Allison 645.
I am aware many coach captains had some real driver issues with the Bova in the day but I have to say I like it!
The front aerodynamics are 'different' the independent front suspension is superb, the air ride is excellent and frankly with its current mechanical combination cruises on the highway better than some cars I have driven!

I dont want to knock those professionals that sat in the BOVA drivers seat solarium developing a suntan on the job but now this old girl is in retirement and approaching 30 years continuous hours behind the wheel are a thing of the past for her.

It seems from my research this chassis number may of been the first BOVA Futura landed in Australia and i would love to her from any professionals who evaluated it or drove it during the early days.

3350 was the first one, last reported as being scrapped, clearly not!
3511, however was in fact numerically the 13th, although 3506, the 12th was burnt out on it's maiden trip.
yolo seems to be a bit of a trend!
