Postby nbus » Tue May 31, 2011 10:47 pm

HIV campaigners are outraged a safe sex promotion featuring a fully clothed, hugging gay couple has been pulled from Queensland bus shelters.

Pulling of the ads is proof that they got a clear message across about safer sex. By definition if any form of advertisement has had an unroar of any sort it is an effective advertisement in terms of getting attention.

Well i guess you can understand where the complaints come from. I think rather than the gay couple, it's the condom packge itself all highlighted in red that's doing the damage.

^^ It wasn't an explicit act of foreplay though as some of the detractors suggest. The condom package is suggestive but if you know what it is then you know, if you catch my drift. If you don't know/understand what the packet is & the symbolism, then you haven't seen anything damaging as its just some people hugging.

I've seen much worse on billboards with straights.

It has been revealed that a Christian group was behind the so called protest.
One lady was on the news the other night saying she thinks it is offensive because of the condom and when her kids see it she has to tell them what it is about. Based on this then she should complain about all the ads on tv etc that show tampons, panty liners etc as kids see them and she would have to explain.
Some people just seem to be born professional whingers.

Exactly!

Honestly, some people are just hiding their prejudice and discrimination behind morality that's based upon dubious double standards.
