Does anyone remember the AOA or Livery you'd most probably call it (as it was Transperth's own campaign) from back in the 90s on the Renaults ? It was basically a skeletal view of what it would look like if the panelwork were not there showing parts of the chassis and cylinders , wiring etc ... the actual slogan escapes me now but that would have to be my second favourite livery after the 900 series one as discussed previously. can anyone remember this or better yet have pics they could share?

Here is a Transperth publicity shot of 747 - it looks like it was taken at Gosnells, where this bus spent some time. The driver is holding a key which reads December 1989, 200th Renault, Transperth.

It certainly was an eye catching livery - a good way to get public transport noticed, and talked about ;)

thanks for that great quick turnaround on my request, UQB709 . Do you have any more pics of it from more of a side on angle so I really get goosebumps? and what of the bus, is it still around on revenue?

Livery good publicity BUT engine misplaced?

UQB709, isn't that the engine below the driver? The engine for Transperth articulated buses (possibly all artics anywhere in the world?) is at the back of the trailer.

If it is the engine, then 747's livery may be good publicity but it doesn't actually show what lies behind the bus's panels.

Theres an old face i remember at the wheel of 747, who regularly drove in the days of my beloved 219.

Yeah it was Gozzys first ever batch of Artics. Renaults 741-747, 740 came about 2 years down the track after being based at Trigg.

I was very intrigued when i first saw 747's AOA, and certainly stood out.

The artics were commonly seen on the 219's and on weekend 228's (Former Combined 218 / 233 Perth - Gozzy via Lynwood) until Gozzy took over the former 885 Citylink Runs of which Causeway originally ran in which all artics were mostly for that purpose.

No, its not the engine. Its not so clear in the photo, but it is actually quite a good representation of the electrics behind that panel. On a Renault, that panel opens to reveal the fuses and other electrical items. You can see on 747 two horizontal rows of predominantly white - those are the fuses from memory. Generally, 747's paint job was a pretty good indication of what actually lay behind the image.

You are right about the engine location for Transperth's artics, but there are certainly artics around the world (and in Australia) where the engine is mounted in the forward section of the bus.

Leyland B21 - did Causeway originally run the 885's? Causeway had the 884, right up until Swan Transit took it over, but I had thought the 885 had predominantly run out of Gosnells since it started.

Causeway ran 885's up until around late 1990. It seemed logical hand the 885 shifts over to Gosnells as after the route 218 terminus was moved from Cardoc Way to Vellgrove Ave nr Pegley, which was also the 885 terminus. Only Citylink Service Gozzy had from start to finish was former route 882.

218's were Gozzy allocated shifts back in the days of MTT / Transperth / Metrobus

I have that green key in my possession.

Also, 747's livery was done by Balcatta High School Art Students.

That Zoo AOA is awesome! It's a shame a lot of AOA's in the last few years have been going downhill but it's good to see that some people can still come up with a creative original idea, it looks really good! Especially the 'bent' rear engine hatch haha

A heritage organization? I would be hoping that these keys one day will end up with BPSWA, especially if we manage to obtain 1077 for our fleet!

well, I'm pretty sure the BPSWA comes under the classification of a heritage organization of 'sorts' , and what I intended anyway..
