Re: My paper bus design
There is some talent out there so I thought I'd post my single axle template for you all. Soon (maybe, if there is interest) I'll start a forum under "Transport Models" for fantasy liveries where people can show off their creative talents.
Enjoy... part of our city... red<bus

Edit: I've taken away the metro branding and made the tyres smaller.

Re: My paper bus design
Thanks for the template redbusfan. Looking at photos of the same bodied buses around Wellington and Auckland I made some improvements and adjustments and also with the livery I made some adjustments.
Here is my version enjoy.

Clearly I don't have the talent.redbusfan wrote:There is some talent out there so I thought I'd post my single axle template for you all.
Thought I'dd see what the old DCT livery might look like on a modern bus - alas I don't have fancy editing software and I couldn't get the colours right, and also had to hand-do the curves ... couldn't be bothered with the second side. Perhaps someone with actual talent can finish the job properly? A real challenge would be to do a Tiger Tea bus.
Re: My paper bus design
Probably 60's to 80's - prior to that used the same colours, but in a different layout. Some pics from google (ie not mine) of trolley buses to demonstrate, though the attempted version was carried by buses 140 (or maybe 143) to 207 in the diesel fleet also ...
The livery I was trying for (and failed):
http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl= ... m=1&itbs=1
The older livery with the same colours:
http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl= ... m=1&itbs=1
The classic Tiger Tea bus I mentioned:

Re: My paper bus design
you didn't fail, I think it might just be the quality of the photo that makes the colour that way. It looks good the way you did it .biqua wrote:The livery I was trying for (and failed):
Does the rear end of the dark brown curve up in this photo?
It looks like the current PT Dunedin livery without the curve at the front

Re: My paper bus design
On the trolley buses it curved up, but I can't recall on the diesels. The second google image I linked to is fairly loyal to the original colours ... I would like to have put the DCT logo on there as well, but without shapes in the editing program it was too hard to try and replicate, and a search of the web didn't turn it up.
I was thinking the same re the PT livery - something about the way the colour turned out.

Re: My paper bus design
Thanks redbusfan
I've looked through photos someone sent me a while back of the Leyland Panthers, a couple of which retain remnants of the original livery, and as far as I can tell the line is straight at the back - I do wonder if I made the line a bit high though given the low windows (was lazy and just followed the body panel line). Probably I should have done the headlights cream also to be true to the old livery.
There were two liveries between then and Citibus as it is now - I'm not brave enough to try them though http://www.omnibus.org.nz/buslocation/leyland/dct.html
Looks like the Nissans carried the older liver at one point (in the background of one of these pics), but I'm sure they carried this also. The last batch of Leopards were delivered in it.
