Railways and Graveyards.

I been downloading film clips from youtube on railways in Japan and everytime I have been watching them as the train is traveling along the line you look to your left or right and there is a graveyard that is either small,medium or large anybody that has traveled to Japan and ridden on the rural railways and the suburban and outer suburban around Japan ever noticed a graveyard and how close they to a railway line it would make you feel good if there was a major rail accident and you look out the window of the wrecked train and all you see is a graveyard.

At least they're providing a skeleton service. Our Rail Corp should try such an undertaking.

Well its not much different to any other countries.

The Vancouver Skytrain Expo line passes right over the top of a cemetary in New Westminster.
Theres a cemetery not far from the Illawarra Line at Sutherland.

Not forgetting Rookwood Cemetery is next to the rail line, even had a train line through the middle of it

Wrong. CityRail doesn't event provide a skeleton service. The Blue Mtns line as an example is the only rail line I know of that is closed more weekends than it's open yet when you ride on it the line feels like it's never been upgraded!

And the Perth-Fremantle line runs along the western side of the Karrakatta Cemetery, with Karrakatta station located right at the main entrance.

Yes. It's atop Devonshire St. Cemetery. Graves were moved to Pt. Botany on a 9 mile steam tramway. David Burke's 'Juggernaut: A story of Sydney in the wild days of the steam trams' has a photo of this.

You will find the cemetery under Central station was called Devonshire st cemetery and all that were interned there were moved by steam tram which consisted of a steam motor and two flat top trailers to Waverly cemetery.The movement included the bodies and the headstones.

I bought a Suzuki T500 from a bloke in Mt Kuringai many years ago who's father was a rail buff. In the back yard was a buffer alleged to be from a Shay loco of Newnes and a Station name board. That was interesting and as I recall it seemed genuine. The board was all metal and enamelled white lettering on a dark blue background. Just wish I could remember where the house was.
