Couldn't you imagine me getting on at Centre Road and greeting the customers, with my little red and black "tool box", dressed like this?

I make no comment Your Honour as to your "toolbox", but I suspect that if you wore your gowns and wig boarding at Centre Rd, half the bus would get their tickets out and validate...

Imagine the scene:
Peter gets on in full legal regalia. Sudden rush for the ticket validator ensues. One old bloke turns to his mate and goes "Wow, Ted's really serious about reestablishing law and order on public transport!"

Maybe do it for April 1 next year, Peter ;)
Cheers,
John

I reckon they'd be more likely to wonder why the guy driving the bus is wearing fancy dress, and to ponder which superhero I am trying to look like...

I've never been a fan of those bloody horrible, hot, uncomfortable horse-hair wigs..

^^^WA just ditched the wigs for mainly that reason...a lot of graduating lawyers from various unis were crying, however.

I believe my uniform is in, so danger averted.. :P

I think it may have been my unusual dimensions which created the problem - finding a polo shirt with a large enough neck to get over my inflated ego...

Well guys, thanks to Mr Scania after my last visit to Sydney he asked if I had a passenger licence,to which I dont.......
thats about to change somewhat, today I dropped past Ventura Knox branch to hand a resume in.
Spoke to lady who said to apply online, which was done finally this afternoon.
So tomorrow its off to Vicroads for the appropriate forms etc then then apply for a police check and working with kids forms too, hopefully all goes well

Cheers
Neill

The WWC can take a while, along with the police check, so jump on those ASAP would be my suggestion. Is Knox your closest depot to home?

Regards Eddie.

Cheers Eddie,
Im in Bayswater and the Knox depot is about 10mins from home but I had to pick the kids up from nana's place and she is just round the corner.
Ive read thru this thread to get an idea as to whats involved so a big thanks to all who posted :) Plus I figured the WWC and Police check could take some time so I had better get it happening today.
Currently Ive been "repairing" from some surgery back in October and have some time to spare so I may aswell get off my bum and get the accreditation's required beforehand to give myself a sporting chance at a position.

This may sound stupid but Im looking at spending a day just riding around on different buses park myself in the front passenger seat and just observe whats done to get a better understanding of things, like passenger ride comfort, safety, pick ups/set downs etc etc etc etc

Note ta self.....pack some lunch! :)

Good idea to ride around. I did it a lot....

That said, driving them is very different to being a passenger - much better. :P

Good luck with it all. :)

Not a great many actually. I've driven a MAN Mk 1 (licence & private training), MAN Mk2 (employment driving test), Volvo B10MkIII (driver training), MAN 16.240 Bubble Bus (Driver Training and on the job)... I'll probably get to drive a Merc 0405NH soon.

Update:

Add to that list:

MAN 15.220 Designline "Citybus"
MAN 16.220 Designline "Orbitor"
MAN 16.220 Designline
Mercedes 0405NH Custom Coaches 550
Scania L94UB NCBC "Downtown City Bus"
MAN 18.310 Custom Coaches CB80

Me neither, to be honest - I had my initial driving test with Ventura in one - just me and the tester..

I thought it was a MkII MAN that Daz was referring to... but not sure. What do you mean by a MkII Merc? (pardon my ignorance)

I think wallace is referring to the Mk II Merc's that the STA had. They're all gone from STA service now.
Not sure what Daz was referring to though.
Cheers,
John
