1 To find out about diff ratios the best advice would be to ring Scania with the vin number on hand and they should be able to find it in their database which would indicate what the vehicle was built with so as long as there hasn't been a modification in later life. The other way is climb underneath if possible and there should be a dataplate on the diff centre itself which will probably have the ratio stamped on it.
2 The engine is a 9 litre and it will most likely be rated at either 250 or 270 horsepower, if it is an auto. I would suggest the former.
3 GCM is Gross Combination Mass and that I have no idea of in regard to that vehicle but if you are thinking Gross Vehicle Mass or GVM then I can tell you with authority that that chassis will quite legally load right up to maximum allowable legal limits. The Scania listed GVM is higher than those just like a lot of heavy duty vehicles but if an actual number is needed then check with Scania directly or it might be found on the ID. plate on the vehicle from Scania, not the bodybuilder plate.

G'day Peta,
thanks for the response and help
I'll talk to Scania today re the diff from factory as I could only get pics of the diff but non showing any id plates.
It is GCM that I'm after as I'm looking at towing @ 7+ T but the GVM is of concern to me as on the affixed Approval plate it says 17500kg GVM, on the SAAB-Scania plate it says 17500 , 1 - 6.500kg, 2 - 11.000kg, then on the rego decal it says GVM 17010 and finally on the side of the coach it has GG 18900 and Tare 10620.
This I believe means the chassis + running gear was 6.500kg from Scania and was legal GVM in any configuration for 17500kg
but as for all the other figures and variations
