Proposed changes to the Fremantle CAT

Post by laptop15 »

From the TP website:
Transperth is proposing changes to the Fremantle CAT to improve the reliability of services.

These proposed changes involve splitting the current Fremantle CAT route into two loops; one servicing the area north of Fremantle Station (including the Maritime Museum) and the other servicing the area south of Fremantle Station.

Both loop services will stop at Fremantle Station to allow passengers to transfer.

It is proposed that the Southern Loop will operate every 10 minutes and the Northern Loop every 15 minutes.

Please click here to download a map of the proposed routes.

Representatives from Transperth will be available to discuss these proposed changes at the following location:

* Location: Woolstores Shopping Centre
* Address: 28 Cantonment Street, Fremantle
* Date: Saturday 19 March 2011
* Time: 9.00am – 2.00pm

All interested parties are invited to attend.

Alternatively, passengers can provide feedback by picking up a feedback form located onboard Fremantle CAT buses.

For more information on these proposed changes, please call the Transperth InfoLine on 13 62 13 (TTY: 9428 1999, TIS: 13 14 50).
What do you guys think? I hope this means stops like in the city :D do you think it will simply be "south loop" and "north loop" or route numbers?

I was thinking of exactly the same plan by coincidence late last year, splitting up the Fremantle CAT into two routes... It will certainly cut down time from getting to a place on the Fremantle CAT... e.g. Having to go all the way down south just to go to Maritime Museum, or wanting to go down to South St and have to go around the first section first...

I've thought about that before, either separating the north/south services, or have it running in both directions. Would certainly save people a lot of time. And I'd think they would have route numbers to avoid confusion, and also say North or South on the desto.

No longer the Orange CAT! The new freo cat timetable has been posted on the Transperth website/timetable page. The loops are blue and red with the timetable being changed to the CAT grey (TT 204):

Hmm, may have to go down there and graph these, presumably there will be a visible difference between the 2, and this may mean they will paint up a few more buses into Freo cat livery!

I think the colours from the original proposal (Orange/Purple) is better than the Fremantle Red and Blue CAT, which maybe mixed with the Perth Red and Blue CAT....

In addition, according to the Timetable Guide as of 8/5/2011, the two Fremantle CAT route were allocated as route 6 and 7 respectively.
