Grenda's: 27 September 2010 changes

Post by Craig »

Notices have appeared onboard Grenda's vehicles advising the re-routing of Routes 811 & 812 in Dingley Village and Dandenong will commence on September 27.

Route 811 will now operate via Lower Dandenong Rd, Centre Dandenong Rd, Tootal Rd, Heatherton Rd, Springvale Rd.

Route 812 will now operate via Lower Dandenong Rd, Howard Rd, Centre Dandenong Rd, Lower Dandenong Rd, Cheltenham Rd. There are also changes at the Dandenong end - it will now operate directly via Railway Pde & Foster St, and no longer serve Hemmings Street.

My understanding is that there will be several other route revisions in central Dandenong from this date in conjunction with the opening of the George Street bridge. More details to come.

New Route 709 Mordialloc - Waterways via Epsom Estate will also commence on September 27.

Kind Regards

Timetable & map for the 709 is now online - http://www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au/route/view/5214

Hourly services will operate 7 days a week.

Appears some thought has been put into meeting trains at Mordialloc (most connections are 4 to 5 minutes).

Kind Regards

The new 811/812 timetables & maps are finally online.

811 - http://www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au/route/view/5221
812 - http://www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au/route/view/5224
811/812 combined - http://www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au/route/view/5316

The extra peak trips merely plug the existing 2 hour/2 hour 20 minute gaps between Dandenong & Braeside in weekday peak periods - an overdue improvement that should have been addressed when the routes got minimum standards in October 2006.

On weeknights & Saturdays, the 21:57 811 from Dandenong to Springvale now continues via the new 811 to Lower Dandenong/Springvale Rds. An identical 21:57 service has also been added on Sundays. This means Dingley Village residents can now leave the city at 21:30 each night and still get home by PT. :)

Kind Regards

Meanwhile people in places like Hoppers Crossing, Tarneit, Point Cook have to leave the City before 6.30 to get home on PT, despite the service recently being "upgraded".
Dingley Village must be in a marginal seat. :(

You've guessed right. Dingley has traditionally had a greater Liberal following compared to all the suburbs around it. It seems to only way to get any public transport improvements is to make your electorate marginal, especially safe seats (i.e. vote out your sitting member).

That's pretty much how I vote despite what I may think of the parties. I figure the more people like me actually vote that way, the more representation we may actually get from our local member instead of being taken for granted (not to mention the pork). Greens or independants first, then the party I want my vote to eventually get to then whoever is left. The Federal government was a hard one, the only options in my electorate were Labor, Liberal, Secular Party, Christian Democrats and Greens. In the end I voted Greens, 2 major parties then the religious parties last. I have nothing against religious parties, or even religion, but ultra conserative parties dressed up as lambs on the other hand...

Im assuming 901 will serve the interchange as well as all other services use either Clow St / Kidds Rd or Cleeland St as well as routes 828, 892,893 if route 844 is using it?
