Question about this coach

Postby Denning-6V71 » Tue Jun 15, 2010 8:25 pm

Just wondering if the members can help identify this coach builder. It's a Merc O303, we need the builder and 3oh3 is having trouble uploading.
Many thanks! :)
Cheers,
John

Hi Denning-6V71,

It's look like Motorcoach body with Mercedes Benz O303-3. Endeavour Coach Company, Geelong Vic got Mercedes Benz O303-3, Motorcoach Body. See Endeavour Coach Company fleetlist at: http://www.busaustralia.com/fleetlists/ ... search=END

I hope, I'm right!

Cheers

Bradley.

Do you know the rego of this vehicle? I think it's this one:

BUS017 Mercedes Benz O303-3 060398 MCA B167 3.1992 C48FT
ex (10) Trotter / Coaches R Us, Ballarat, Vic.; ex BUS017 Ocean Grove Coaches, Vic.; ex TV 878 Fraser, Dubbo, N.S.W.; ex The Australian Army.

Could also be...

ex Australian Top Tours, Oakleigh 0257AO; ex Thomson, Cobram; ex Anderson, Cobram 'COBRAM'; ex CQS343.

3679AO Mercedes Benz O303-3 300-315-61-050322 Denning F182 9.1988 C48FT
ex QYN559

Try looking at the Coffs Harbour bus lines fleetlist as they had few 0303s with this body style and one was sold to Ocean grove coach VIC.

That would suggest the first one that I mentioned, it came from Ocean Grove Coaches in Victoria...

Looks a bit like a early Motorcoach - see here http://gallery68108.fotopic.net/p37087985.html. But I'm more inclined to go with Denning as there is no Motorcoach sign above the driver's window!

Dennings will have a large 'Built by Denning' on the step of the coach. MCA's had there plates hidden near the drivers seat on some of them.
Would you have a look at that K-Whopper hallin' that Wriggle Wagon hes got it to the floor and looking for more!

Apart from having all MCA body features, the obvious things to rule it out being an 80's Denning is

* The air-con is clearly from the early 90s. 80's Dennings had the big squared air-con pod integrated into the body. Early 90's Austral Dennings were much smoother in appearance.

* The side windows are bonded and curved. 80's Dennings were rubbered in and flat. You could never fit bonded, curved windows after without modifying the frame

* 80's Dennings had squared off wheel arches.

* Dennings front header was much more curved from the roof leading to the windscreen

* Body mouldings, stretch-panelling, door panels are not consistent with an 80's Denning.

A/C could be a retrofit, looks like a Thermo-King unit.
It certainly looks like the Motorcoach in Hornibrook's link. As for signs over the driver's window, most of the Murrays 48 seater fleet are PMC Apollo bodies, but don't have the 'Apollo' decal over the driver's window either. It could have been removed or not applied on request from the original buyer.

The one I mentioned before is an ex-Army one...

BUS017 Mercedes Benz O303-3 060398 MCA B167 3.1992 C48FT
ex (10) Trotter / Coaches R Us, Ballarat, Vic.; ex BUS017 Ocean Grove Coaches, Vic.; ex TV 878 Fraser, Dubbo, N.S.W.; ex The Australian Army.

That would make it an MCA.
