I understand that Skybus is owned by the Drivers group. They also own Greyline.
Would this be correct?

Strewth! They must have been hard-up for buses on the road to get the CB60 out! I haven't seen that one on front line service for a long long time!
Love them 14.5m Super Shuttles. Not totally sold on the new logo yet, though....
Cheers,
John

Correct. Gray Line is franchised throughout the world and Driver have it in Australia. Certain standards and quality assurances are required to get this franchise, so it is no wonder that Driver have it.Redhood wrote:...I thought Driver only do the Gray Line tours in Australia, and don't actuily own Gray line.

Customer specification. They have a raised roof line and a "hat" at the front.Smitchalias wrote:Whats with the roofing continuing further then the windscreen?

Re: Skybus (21/2/09).
No idea, I'd say its either to make the desto easier to read when its in the sun (pretty pointless for Skybus), or they just think it looks good.QCC Scania K94IB 4x2 wrote:Whats the "hat" for?

They call it a 'baseball cap'.QCC Scania K94IB 4x2 wrote:

I think it is just to make them more distinctive from other buses, and raised sides to hide A/C.
I seem to remember when they launched the originals it made them look more like a tram?

Oh okay.
I read somewhere that CC made the '7L lookalikes because Volgren couldn't manufacture them in time.
Is this true?
Thanks,
Mitch (:

Yes there are two Customs which look similar to the CR227L. They carry the fleet numbers #70 and #71. See the ninth photo from the top.
Mind you, I've haven't seen them in action. Maybe because I haven't been looking very hard.

They don't seem to be out as much as the Volgrens, probably because they aren't as long. They definitely do get out on the City - AIrport runs though.Flinders Flyer wrote:Mind you, I've haven't seen them in action. Maybe because I haven't been looking very hard.

Re: Skybus (21/2/09).
If it helps, one would find that the drivers of Skybus wear Melbourne airport name badges.RailwayBus wrote:Driver own Gray Line, but AFAIK have nothing at all to do with Skybus?tranzitjim wrote:I understand that Skybus is owned by the Drivers group. They also own Greyline.

Re: Skybus (21/2/09).
Ok, who owns Skybus?
If the drivers all have name badges of Melbourne Airport, are Skybus owned by Melbourne Airport?
Also, while I am here, who owns each of the other airport shuttle busses, like the one to Mornington Peninsula, other to Dandenong, and one east. Sorry, I can not think of their names off the top of my head.
