Re: A Few BCC Artics in 1990
Happy to help 'Dave Wilson'
1. 996 is taken on the Victoria Bridge. It appears the lane this bus is in is now the outbound Busway lane
2. 983 is taken outside City Hall on Adelaide St
3. 997 is taken across the road and down at bit, still on Adelaide St except this time outside the Albert St Portal to the Q.S.B.S.
4. 986 is on Albert St facing the entrance to the portal. King Geoge Sq. is in the background
5, 6 and 7 are all taken on the corner of the City side of the Victoria Bridge and North Quay. 385 and 994 are turning into Q.S.B.S. from Queens Wharf Rd which links to the South East Freeway.

Joh would know, that is his haunting ground! With one leg on either side of the barbed wire fence.
What a coincidence, I was just looking today at lunchtime at R. Birrels magnificent book on Brisbane buses containing a lot of these vehicles.

Re: A Few BCC Artics in 1990
Most of the early artics had short careers with BT.
The route 172 Chermside - Enoggera, when it was worked with artics, was a City Express style of service but i can't recall much of the detail.

Loves those images, thanks for sharing.
Very interesting in seeing where alot of these went when I recently inputted the known whereabouts of these vehicles after life with BCC/BT.

Re: A Few BCC Artics in 1990
You are talking about the CityLimited experiment which was well ahead of its time. Lasting from May 1986 to April 1988, originally half the stops on the whole cross-town route were removed. Eventually the grannies with shopping carts complained about 1)having to walk too far to the bus 2)riding on Japanese assembled vehicles. By mid-way through 1987 most of the 172's stops were re-instated and just before Expo 88 started the artics were redeployed and the concept was scrapped with all CityLimited stop signage removed.jac wrote:The route 172 Chermside - Enoggera, when it was worked with artics, was a City Express style of service but i can't recall much of the detail.

Excellent photo, Dave Wilson.
Great selection of all Ex BCC artics, Especially the last photo of Ex BCC #994 (Volvo B10ML, Volgren), I remember been on the Ex BCC #994 before withdrawn and it is a good artic to rode on the South East Freeway way before built the South Eastern busway.
Sorry for the delayed comments.
Cheers
Bradley.
