[NSW] Busways on North Shore Rail Replacement
Howdy all!
I got a few shots of Busways O405s on rail replacement over the past couple of days. I didn't end up getting shots of the Scanias, although I rode on one K230UB, and it ended up going over the main deck and getting stuck in the congestion as it was one lane citybound on the main deck when I was going in! I didn't see any older Busways O405s with the round headlights either.
Anyway, here is a selection of Busways Mercedes O405s with Custom Coaches bodywork:
MO 4960, No. 475 is at Hornsby picking up on a Route 30 to Wynyard.

m/o 9185, No. 305 going over the rail bridge at Hornsby on an express service to Strathfield.

MO 4606, No. 449 has just left Hornsby bound for Strathfield on Route 40.

MO 4961, No 476 is picking up at Gordon on a Route 31 Express to Hornsby.

m/o 9178, No 300 is picking up at Gordon on a Route 31 Express to Hornsby.

Re: [NSW] Busways on North Shore Rail Replacement
Huh?
I'm more than happy for people to copy and paste and save images on their computers, as long as they don't send them for publication without crediting appropriately. I don't think that has been abused as yet, and that's why I don't have a tag in my photos just yet.

Re: [NSW] Busways on North Shore Rail Replacement
I think I might copy them myself!
I appreciate these Windy. Are they all from Kincumber?I can't recall catching any of them on route 50.
I agree on the black bumpers but at least they are a handy way to quickly spot a dreaded Euro 2 turbo!
The Gordon shots are quite significant to me as these buses have always reminded me of Deanes Coaches Domino bodied AEC Swifts that made a regular appearance here in the 1980s when I was growing up.

There are plenty of turbo-ed 405s at Busways with the standard red bumpers, but yes for the later ones, these bumpers make for ready IDying (as the cut off exhaust tips generally do when viewing from the back).Swift 584 wrote:I agree on the black bumpers but at least they are a handy way to quickly spot a dreaded Euro 2 turbo!

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but from memory of 2001, 300 and 305 were held at Blacktown depot. Others photographed may be currently held there too.Swift 584 wrote:Are they all from Kincumber?I can't recall catching any of them on route 50.

Re: [NSW] Busways on North Shore Rail Replacement
Buses were used from Glendenning, Charmhaven and Kincumber yards, so there'd be a mix. 300's accreditation suggests it's still at Blacktown.

The Hornsby - Strathfield runs were predominantly done by Glendenning, and the North Shore Line runs were mostly Kincumber.

The cut off exhaust tips are handy for when you view the bus from above as you are getting out of Woy Woy Stn.Andrew wrote:There are plenty of turbo-ed 405s at Busways with the standard red bumpers, but yes for the later ones, these bumpers make for ready IDying (as the cut off exhaust tips generally do when viewing from the back).Swift 584 wrote:I agree on the black bumpers but at least they are a handy way to quickly spot a dreaded Euro 2 turbo!

Some non turbos have the cut off tip when they've been replaced after touching trees etc. Then I resort to fleet number.
