Volgren Demonstrator at Red Bus

Post by David- »

Just seen today at Gosford Raiway Station that the Volgren Demonstrator is now at Red Bus on the Central Coast.

Iwas talking to the driver today and it has been said that Red Bus will be taking order of these Volgrens next year.

Here are some Photos taken at Gosford Railway Station

Good to see the rear desto in use on the Scania demo while it is in service at Red Bus Service , because the rear desto was not on at all in the time the bus was at Port Stephens.

The desto's shown are what is from the rest of the fleet that have mobitecs. Why would they create new ones when they can quickly load it in. Red bus desto's are detailed ie the first foto would scroll "the entrance/ via erina fair/via bay village/via harbour & bias ave

The destos from Red Bus are pretty poor IMO. I prefer the style that Busways have implemented (which is similar to STA).

Red Bus route numbers are too small (should take up both lines) and the destination should be thicker

I can only hope that they still paint the red/cream livery, and not leave it white like everything at Busways

The only reason why its white because its a demonstrator. Its not worth going into all the trouble painting a bus Red and cream if its only going to be there for a month it would be a waste of time and money

I understand that, I was referring to when they eventually buy some to OWN. I understand about the whole demonstrator thing. So it looks like they have had enough of the Iveco/Express ones. Anyone know why a sudden switch to Volgren without trialing Custom and Bustech????

Maybe they are just trialling the chassis?

That doesn't mean that they can't have a decent sized route number (if people read the desto, they usually only look at the route number). I have no problem with detailed destos if they have a decent sized route number that can be read from a distance.

Ahh a Volgen on the Central Coast. This means that Busways and Entrance red Bus Services will each have a bus that looks like an STA bus. Thanks for putting up the pictures.

Geez had anyone thought to engage the brain and realise that the place names are too long to fit without having a crowded out route number? Also with the MoT preferring the style of the STA et al, the days of ultimate destination [flash] via xx [flash] yy are numbered???

also they have some combined routes eg 22/23. 22 would be on top row and 23 on the bottom

What sort of a question is that, Simes? Did you not engage YOUR brain and realise that there are alot of brainless twits who are unable to engage anything other than their salivary glands?
