A inside view on the last day of trams... Was a busy day.



This really sums up the last day of tram operation..

nice pics the tram driver on the right was called teddy long he had 51 years service & wanted to drive on last day,but they said NO :evil:ALSO ON THE LAST DAY i refesed to shake hands and have my pic taken with lord mayour clem jones, or go on the t,v news with him, for that the next day I was stood down from duty, so I DIDNT COMENCE DRIVEING BUSES TILL NEXT DAY

The poster in the last photo says it all. Brisbane made the same mistake as Sydney did 8 years earlier.
As tartan said in another post.

....had Brisbane kept its trams for a few more years it might had survived because of the 1973 oil crisis

The woman in the middle holding the sign was you. Only difference is that you had 51 years service as a street worker.

Jeez you could also tell the seventies were approaching from the hideous fashion sense of the passengers on that last day shot.

It's a tragedy that Brisbane scrapped its trams. The most modern system in Australia; trams with roller bearing (SKF) bogies, plus a range of other features the FMs had.
