Sydney R/S & V set models

Post by dude »

Around 10 years ago I bought a V set model from Casula Hobbies @ Liverpool. By the time I'd finished painting it, and was wanting to do another, I could no longer get them from there. They were honey coloured clear resin if that helps. I cannot remember who made them but I'd be really interested if anyone knows a) what i'm talking about & b) information on how I can get any more of these?

Thanks in advance.

I would also be interested in a supplier for some Sydney suburban stock.

All I have currently found is a two car single deck unit. Surely with such a vast system someone must make units for it.

What a market for some enterprising mould maker!

Those amber resin kits were a bit rough but very good if you did the work to tity them up.

They have been out of production for several years from memory.

The models refered to are the Friedmont models which have been avlaible for a number of years from Iron Horse Hobbies. The kits are about $60 for a 4 car set but this only gets you the bodies, you have to supply bogies, couplers pantos etc. Iron Horse have website which can be found by way of a google seach but be warned their production is very spasmodic. Keep an eye on EBAY as well as Casula Hobbies, Train Trader and Woodpecker Model Railways - all stores in the Sydney area which have has seconhand examples of these models from time to time.

I know that Iron Horse Hobbies make/made the HO scale Sydney suburban rollingstock also some were made by Friedmont Kits, which a friend of mine made some up. I saw a couple of made up Tulloch railcars in Casula Hobbies last week and the new Sydney suburban doublr decks which look alittle out of scale and have a couple of mistakes to the body. But other than that they are an attractive model.

The 620's could have been Lloyd's Model Rail in Canberra.

Greetings all,
Apologies for raising such an old thread, however I have a question relating to Friedmont Models and the tram kits they produced during the 1980s. I was told that Iron Horse Hobbies in Wagga now produced these kits. Are they still available :?:.

Regards,
Ben

If your after a V-Set kit, it doesn't exsist.
I obtain the clear amber shells and then handed them over to an RTR train builder who had to make a base, obtain brass bogie moulded into NSW passenger car style, pantograph and black beetles.
Then they painted the cars as follows:
Current CityRail livery on the front end
80's candy on the other end
