[NSW] 3529/8625 - STA ex-Action Ansair 0305 interior pics

Post by Mr Bean »

I took these photos some time ago one day in Ryde Depot. Since 3529 has just been farewelled I thought some may enjoy viewing these interior pics. Of course in many ways it will be the same as any old Canberra merc, however differences are also evident. No exterior pics unfortunately, though these have been documented well elsewhere

Is that fluorescent light original or added? Looks like it belongs more in someone's kitchen than on a bus :-)

Is it the truth, or did you hear it from the truth engineer?

Similar, but still different. That light is standard, they are in the PR100.2s as well.

The interior is, I suppose unsurprisingly, very similar to the ACTION overhauled Mk II 2075...

There are 4 main differences from when this was with ACTION:

Different driver's seat
Luggage rack replaced with seat
Round mirror at front replaced with rectangular mirror
The big red light on the dash (what is that?)

Extra seating capacity = More people on the bus = more money.

Nice interior layout in this ex ACTION Merc , Are the passenger seats trimmed in grey vynal or is it grey cloth fabric ? Good style drivers cabin and I see that the drivers seat was recovered in STA graffiti fabric whilst 3529 was with the STA 8)

I think that light is a warning light. It usually goes off when you start up a bus and it doesn't have any air, the light comes on and a loud bell continuesly goes off until air is built up in the bus. These days it is flat and not some giant thing like the above.

Grey cloth. This was done when they were reburbished by ACTION, Before refurbishment they had a blue in the same type of fabric. The ACTION PR100.2's have the same cloth, with the earlier units having the blue and the later units the grey cloth.

Otherwise known as the Central Warning Light.

Hi All,

Typical STA drivers, someone has left a shopping bag on the bus in pic 2, or does it belong to the driver? Strange place for the drivers bag to be left.

It's probably a green bag belonging to the driver. It looks like there is a reflective safety vest in that bag.

Ahhh that brings back memories from my days when I used to ride these into Civic from Watson with my Grandad. Still all looks in pretty good nick and not much has changed in it!

Typical STA drivers
The green bag belongs to the photographer, Mr Bean, and is a pertinent example of a suspicious parcel.

Would it have been installed by N&W as a high temp light?? West Bankstown used to have a large round red light for low water / high temp

I've seen this on my shed - but it's round and flush with the dash and has a ring around it - like the other gauges, it's never worked for me and I'm thinking it's a bell light (since they have never worked)

Our Renault's have the large round light, with ring flush with the dash. It is a warning light, no air, failures and the like. Lights up and rings the bell constantly. Central Warning light, or master caution (Something like that anyway!).
