New AOA- ING Direct?

Postby Sir Pompously » Thu Aug 17, 2006 5:06 pm

Saw a new AOA today, on what I am sure was BUS-880, Only got a quick glance but it looked red/dark orange and white with ING (lion logo) Direct on it.

Yeah, Busnerd saw it on Lathlain St. Shame to see the old AOA go. It was the oldest AOA in the fleet, and had many faithful years service being "The bees and the birds do it, why don't you?.........Visit the National Botanic Gardens" Bus. It was a great AOA, and really dissapointed to see it dissapear like that.
On another note, I have noticed every second bus has an ad for ING, its insane!

DAMN IT.

Why did they have to go and do that?? Why couldnt they put it on say, 760? 853? 873? 896? 948?

Well, at this stage its not confirmed. THERE'S STILL HOPE.

Wel it is confirmed, saw it today. It must still have the old paint job under the wrap as I could see the old ACTION logo coming through. The front is the standard orange.

Twas a classic indeed, now the oldest AOA is 963. If anyone could actually confirm the oldest AOA, it would be appreciated.

I had just gotten off a 314 today when i began walking and just at that moment i looked to my left and 880 pulled up so i hopped on. When it got to Civic I made sure to be first off in an attempt to get a photo for y'all, except that it was getting dark, plus the bus started to drive away as i took the photo so unfortunately its fuzzy :x I won't post it, but here is a link to it anyway if you want to kind of see what it looks like.

982 - Aboriginal is from 1993.
992 - Nara - has always been in that livery as far as i know, so around 10 years, give or take.

I have no idea how old the fossil designs are, (and besides, who said 963 was done first?), but i will tell you that i can currently hear busnerd GIGGLING like a little girl

They, like 880's old design were on the buses from new, so that should give some indication.

None the less, very interesting. Does anyone know how long the old AOA's (back in the 90's) were on for? As long as the current day, or longer?

Just a note, someone in sydney asked what 982's aoa was advertising and we said it was a cultural base AOA, which it is, but the reason it was done was for

"World indigenous peoples year - 1993" even though anyone can tell just by looking at any photo of 982

I have seen the ING AOA bus twice now, both times I have been in a car and unable to take a photo. :x I'll keep my camera handy in future. Here's a photo of 880's Botanic Gardens AOA bus launch. I don't know when it was taken, but I'm sure someone does. It comes from the Retired Transport Employees club photo collection.

Wow, that is a fantastic pic there, Carrie, thanks for sharing that with us. We should've such a farewell for this AOA.

Ok, just added some stuff up, out of the 246 buses that are capable of getting these ING ads (this includes buses currently with any AOA, ones that are always naked like 106 and buses with zues ads like 107, 115 and 993)

There are currently
55 buses I haven't yet seen since ING started advertising
59 buses confirmed without ING
132 buses confirmed with ING including 880.

I made a graph showing this data
