Reusing route numbers

Post by Bulimba_Busfanner »

The city of Brisbane is proposing a new bus network in anticipation of the opening of the Brisbane Metro.

The two route numbers, 26 and 182, will be resurrected once the Brisbane Metro opens to the public, after these two route numbers served years of dormancy.
  • 26: Before the renumbering on 12 April 1999, the old 26 ran a portion of today's route 306, which is a Nudgee service. The new 26 will operate between Griffith University station and RBWH station via Woolloongabba and Kangaroo Point with an optional alignment via either Fortitude Valley
or Spring Hill. It will operate Mondays to Fridays only.
  • 182: The old 182 was a renumbering of the portions of the old 76/77 in 1999. This route number was discontinued in 2002. The new 182 will operate between Upper Mount Gravatt and Holland Park West, and will operate seven days a week.
Useful links Do you know which bus routes in Brisbane other than 26 and 182 use recycled route numbers?

This is a draft version (it may not be in the final version)

Recycling of route numbers does not only happen in Brisbane, it's gone on in Melbourne too: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_b ... _Melbourne

Go back to the topic.

Two routes carrying these route numbers will be deleted and may be reassigned to another route in the future.
  • 145: This route number will be recycled for future use, as route 145 (Browns Plains to Griffith University route) is being removed from the network and will no longer operate due to limited trips and low utilisation.
  • P151: Route P151 (Calamvale to Brisbane route) is being removed from the network and will no longer operate due to limited trips and very low utilisation. Excluding the P prefix, the route number will be reallocated in the future to another route that serves suburbs currently not serviced by the BCC, mainly in the southside (probably Hillcrest? or Forestdale?).
