I wonder if it would be worthwhile for Cubic or whomever to develop a portable reader that includes all the gps equipment etc..

Already exists. Kiama is trialing real time tracking and Opal using a Samsung device in a specialised dock.

There has been mention of such trial back in http://www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewt ... l#p1051486 about three weeks ago but there has been no apparent publicity for all this as yet.
Is there any more information available?

Blue Mountains Transit shown just as CDC, Premier Illawarra and Premier Charters have been added to bus contactless on Transport Info today

Even Hillsbus and Hunter Valley Buses are now simply just CDC.

And its interesting because TfNSW should know about it based on their OSMBSC map in Open Data, which states that OSMBSC 11 is operated by Hunter Valley Buses.

And I just noticed that Forest Coach Lines is now also included under their own name and not CDC.

Forest Coach Lines is still operating as its own brand though owned by CDC, so I expected it to be still referred as Forest Coach Lines.

As far as I can see five Sydney Regions to go: Busabout region15 although it was gazetted a few weeks ago, one Transdev region and all three STA regions.

The Transdev region that has to be activated for contactless payments would be region 13 as regions 10 and 12 are already listed as contactless payment active on the Transport For NSW website

Metro replacement buses 11m and 12m have Opal Readers switched on but the north shore buses remain ‘free’

I reckon it’s a matter of time, if they just keep the rail replacement routes and names the same from here on in, it’s just a matter of coding them in

The few State Transit [STA] buses I've been on in the last few days on the north shore have the signage in the buses saying that contactless cards are accepted, so maybe the STA aren't last after all (unless the other operators also already have said acceptance ready to go).

Well ok I just travelled on an 11M, the Opal readers were absolutely on and people were tapping their cards. Train fares applied

Apologies I wasn’t sure what you were referring to specifically - if it’s tracking them, in the NextThere app, you can see live data tracking for the 11M/12M buses

Trip finder calculates fares for various suggested trips but is not doing so for trips including 11M and 12M. And yes I had no trouble tracking them on Anytrip which I mainly use.

Depends on which schedule you are referring to - the original one on the Transport for NSW website was the end of September https://www.transport.nsw.gov.au/news-a ... s-hit-road but then the Info website reported it as the end of October

Region 6 will become cashless towards the end of next month.
