I used to witness this at least weekly in Talavera Road Macquarie Park, between the M2 and Macquarie Centre. I'm sure Hillsbus customer service was getting sick of the number of complaints I lodged via Transport Infoline!
Strangely enough I never saw a Transdev driver do it!

I checked the dash cam footage against street view. It was the location you decribed. Another thing, the offending bus in the video was a Bustech VST -a Transdev bus.

The rumour is that Station Link and Camellia depot will close tonight after the final buses return between 8 and 9 pm unless there is an emergency on which they are operating at the time.

So no standby buses anymore? Metro now deemed ready to go it alone without having it's hand held.

What is going to happen to all the Transdev buses stored there?

They may still have standby buses, they don't need to be branded.

SL buses might give the impression of expectations of breakdown, very negative. Ordinary buses could be there for lots of reasons, no one will care.

It would be closed from an operational aspect but some buses could still be stored there.

Assuming Transdev are prepared to take on responsibility for paying the rent, unlikely TfNSW would want to. If Transdev have no future use and no depot space to store, most will likely be disposed of.

I am quite sure the depot was leased or rented from the third party owner. It would have been a joint venture deal between Transdev and Hillsbus Co and the property owner most likely on a time frame deal as the operational requirements for Station Link were known for months in advance.
TFNSW would have nothing to do with depot arrangements.
If Transdev are going to continue to use the depot for storage of their withdrawn fleet Transdev would most likely come to a further lease/rent arrangement with the property owner.
Will be interesting to see what Transdev do in that regard.
The influx of the 63 odd Station Link fleet into their Sydney operations will mean the withdrawl of a corresponding number of their current fleet .That will stretch capacity at their existing Sydney depots.
With the current state of the second hand market it will be very difficult to sell that fleet.
My bet is a fair percentage of that fleet will go for scrap or parts.

So I take it they fuelled and cleaned the buses at their regular depots and perhaps used a demountable office on this temporary depot site. Maybe used service stations to fuel.
I guess being so new, the buses were serviced under warranty if the need arose.

The lease was most likely held by the Hillsbus / Transdev jv for its TfNSW contract. Now that contract has concluded, Transdev would either have to bear the cost of continuing the lease or convince TfNSW that it would be beneficial to retain to support its contracted services.

That would be the most likely scenario, if Transdev has little storage space, they will be stripped for parts and the remains sent for scrap quickly.

No, they were cleaned, washed and maintained at the temporary depot.

Noticed that the standby former StationLink buses for the Sydney Metro have gone from their Victoria Avenue of this morning, and the area has now reverted back to its original taxi stand markings.

CDC m/o 6864 was the last Station Link bus to leave Camellia today heading to the Hunter. Thus ends Station Link.
