They're great photos "1881" :!:
Stone Bros. certainly had an interesting fleet of old AECs. A few that were rebodied of course from xDRT&T/DGT deckers.

Thanks for these photos, Albion 1881.

It was certainly a striking livery!

It reminds me that two of their ex Adelaide MTT Regals (MO 924, a Comg-Eng bodied example, and one of their Hope bodied ones, like MO043 and 038) were sold to a property somewhere in the Gosford region, shortly after the Cumberland takeover around 1979.

Does anyone have any knowledge as to whether they still exist, or more specific details on just where in that area they went?

There would be very few ex-Adelaide Regal 111s still in existence now.

Cheers

Thanks for that information, LB608 - very interesting indeed!

It helps make sense of a conversation I had back in 1979!

Cheers

I was born in 1953 and we lived one block from Stone Bros bus depot at Auburn. When I was about 12 I got a job cleaning the fleet of buses on Saturdays. It took all day for me and a mate to do them all. The money was good for kid’s pay back in the day. The manager’s name was Jimmy and he owned a black E-type Jag. ..... Jimmy was good to us, and I enjoyed this job very much. I can still remember the smell of the bus depot, and will always remember when Stone Bros buses ruled Auburn and its surrounds. Mark

Thanks for resurrecting the Stone Bros post Mark, its good to be reminded now and then of how the industry has evolved.
Here's a shot I took in the early or mid '70's when Stone Bros still "ruled Auburn".
I remember that smell you mention as well, you could walk through their yard and get the fuel and oil on your shoes,
so many years of it just soaked into the ground.
