It appears that, so far, these pens are only in the inner end compartments of power cars. Nothing to indicate their existence or locations.
Not many people would be prepared to use them unless they were seated in the same area, where they could keep watch over them.

Re: $1.7 billion order for new Waratah trains signed
I think November has been mentioned as the start date. Is there a new timetable coming out then?
There should be more sets available by then, so it would only be a technicality as to which is the "first".

The new timetable starting September has some B Set services listed.
An asset of NSW. All opinions/comments are strictly my own.

Obviously coinciding with the Epping to Chatswood Rail Link shutdown.Aurora wrote:The new timetable starting September has some B Set services listed.

In that video, I saw words on the internal desto on the Upper Deck that looked like they're typed up on a computer, Must be tiny LED lights.MLVD wrote:Report on Nine about the B-Sets, has the screens in action: https://twitter.com/9NewsSyd/status/1017326705155792897

Re: $1.7 billion order for new Waratah trains signed
Is the new timetable just extending Epping terminators to Hornsby or a complete rewrite from scratch?Aurora wrote:The new timetable starting September has some B Set services listed.
Re: $1.7 billion order for new Waratah trains signed
Sector 3A (Northern/Shore) rewrite. The train paths are already there - though there are some slight reductions in frequency (19 trains/hr to 18 trains/hr?) north of North Sydney in the PM peak I believe.stupid_girl wrote:Is the new timetable just extending Epping terminators to Hornsby or a complete rewrite from scratch?Aurora wrote:The new timetable starting September has some B Set services listed.
Re: $1.7 billion order for new Waratah trains signed
It is a reconfiguration (an update) with ECRL gone and Epping to Hornsby needing to be reconnected with its southern half. Although not just a simple extension of the Eppings in peak periods in line with plans for future timetables.stupid_girl wrote:Is the new timetable just extending Epping terminators to Hornsby or a complete rewrite from scratch?Aurora wrote:The new timetable starting September has some B Set services listed.

On what day, at what time and where will the first B1 passenger service run?

Some clues were given about 3 posts earlier.
Very hard to predict when B1 might be rostered in

B2 has been regularly seen outside, haven't seen B1 for a while, B3 comes out occasionally.

A bit more than a month to go till they're in service providing that they enter service on the first day of the new timetable.

I don't think it is a good idea to get B set in passenger run on the same day of a new timetable.idontknow556 wrote:A bit more than a month to go till they're in service providing that they enter service on the first day of the new timetable.
On 30 Sep, many things could potentially go wrong and Sydney Trains needs to allocate a lot of resources to monitor.
I doubt if they want to monitor an extra item.
They can issue STN to get B set in service on any other day and get someone cut the rope.

It's almost Spring and Summer and none of them are in service yet. I guess that we will be stuck with S Sets this summer.

Re: $1.7 billion order for new Waratah trains signed
There was a couple of locos in AMF yesterday morning (48+C) so possibly B4 has arrived?
Sets 1, 2, 3 and possibly 4 should be available for service by end of September. IIRC, when the As were being delivered, they were allocated roster positions, but older sets filled in until an A was available.

I doubt We’d be stuck with the S sets, The B sets have been testing and we’re talking MONTHS now so the first should be in service by the next month or two
