Those MTT Regal IV''s with the beautiful Lawton had a real presence about them - at 37ft 6ins in length, they were large for their time, but shorter than some of the current buses.
The 600 series had the preselector gearbox, with the same quadrant set up as London's RT buses - they were fun to drive, even without power steering and air-conditioning, that is considered essential these days.

Totally agree, Tim. Those big steering wheels of the Leyland and AEC buses really allowed you swing those beauties around, and the uncluttered drivers area (by today's standard) seemed to help, too (lots of room to swing your arms to get that wheel moving!)
