ticed many "out of stocks" of printed timetables at Marion yesterday. As well a newsagent at Glenelg who has the timetables box outside the shop was empty yesterday. This is not a good look.
The 2 timetable racks as i remarked before gone outside at the Elizabeth shopping Center,
Inside where you used to get printed timetables that box got removed some weeks ago and has been replaced with a Adelaide Metro information Computer so you have to print off your own bits of timetables on a small bits of paper, so its called now do it yourself, Has any other shopping centers got this yet or are we the first?
Living on the 228 bus run.
Route 228 Smithfield interchange to Victoria Square in the city of Adelaide South Australia.

Looks like you are the first-sign of things to come! Cheapskate DPTI-big fail
Also noticed one yesterday in Port Mall shopping centre opposite Kmart, with a person in AdMet uniform helping someone use it print a timetable. The stand full of timetables had gone completely.

I wasn't referring to printing of timetables-I was referring to the availability of them,or lack thereof. In the late 50's and early 60's,timetables weren''t readily available or easy to get hold of-same as seems to be happening now!
Hard to argue they're not readily available now with online technologies. Those without access can usually go to an InfoCentre, the kiosks as mentioned above, a library, a bus depot, ask a friend or family member to print one, etc.
Funny isn't it, letterboxes are regularly filled up with printed material advertising & promoting all sorts of products & services but public transport providers are increasingly regarding providing printed information as an unnecessary expense.
Despite having an excellent website & presence across all forms of electronic media the general manager of Reading Buses, a very successful & progressive UK operator, said that the humble timetable leaflet is still their best form of publicity & they always carry them on their buses.
Don't worry - soon they will be like the event ticket companies and charge you for printing it out! This will be followed almost immediately by a mass bankruptcy of timetable collectors. What really irks me is the lack of good system maps. You go to an info centre in most of Europe you can get a system map which gives the visiting tourist or gunzel much of what they need to know and in many cases a printed book or series of leaflets with the timetables as well.

So true. Adelaide Metro has a decent network map on the website but it is too big to print on the average home printer or use on a phone. If it was available in print & sold for a modest price I'm sure they would sell plenty of copies. The same goes for the late & lamented Melbourne map which sold for $2.20 when last produced in 2006.
Agree with your comments re lack of map.I have sent emails to DPI and Michael Deegan-CEO re this-but no reply?
Yes you can enlarge map on computer screen but when you go to print you get a useless tiny map ,which is unreadable!
I just went to the AdMet website to download a timetable for the 100 route, and it says (underneath 'printed timetable' 'No PDF available'. This is surprising. What would be the reason for this?
Would it be that it was not changed during the Dec changes, with the old version being deleted from the system?
I just want to look up some scheduled departures, but it seems to be harder than ever without using a realtime app.

When you go to first of the 100 timetables it brings up the PDF,748kb - to enable you to print it off. You obviously need to update your computer or try another "100" PDF

Currently there seems to be a general problem on the website. 'No PDF Available' is being displayed on all bus, train and tram routes.

I just forked out some serious dosh for this purpose, yet you're insisting I repeat this just to download a .PDF file? I think I'll pass up this option for now.
I can also confirm that PD2/20's observation is correct, regarding pdfs. I wonder how long it will take them to fix this?
