Franklin's of Perth Classics

Post by LocoLes »

During recent Tassie visits I came across [by chance] 3 interesting 'classic' buses from the Perth, Tasmania based fleet. The Austral Pacific Classic II is pictured at Cressy alongside the company's Austral-GM Tourmaster coach. While in Queenstown this excellent Volvo B10M with PMC body was parked in such a position outside the Wilderness Railway that I just had to take advantage of several angles. A credit to the owner and the coaches are probably quite rare now. :)

This 1986 Mercedes-Benz [PMCSA] has since been retired [see rego C 12 MH], another excellent former fleet member. :)

Evening Lourie.
It's an Austral Pacific Classic II integral coach.Which was essentially an upgrade under Austral Pacific ownership of a 2 axle MCA integral coach.
CCCC is the board member who asked the question whether the coach was ex Brims Coaches.
Hope this helps.

are there any relations between Currumbin Valley Bus & Coach (Gold Coast, QLD) or is it just coincidence that the liveries are VERY similar?
- referring to the old B7R Autobus at Currumbin
Still waiting for a MAN SL200 to catch to school. Might be waiting a while....

No relationship TheIlikeBusesGuy. When purchased, the coaches have remained in that livery. Why paint something when the paintwork is still in good condition. It IS a very striking livery, and quite a change from all the boring white schemes of modern day operators.
LocoLes, the Tourmaster is powered by a Cummins :( not a GM :( (very disappointed when I arranged my Jimmy Tour last year) :) BTW, it's about time you made yourself known when you visit Tassie again  It would be really good to finally meet and exchange stories.

Hi Yoda, It's great that the CAC Bedford is under cover and won't that look good one day.......another rare [rare these days] CAC bodied bus in preservation.
The old Leyland Tiger half cab ex Launceston 361 could be the first to be restored .....LTM have similar 366 in storage and QVM Inveresk have older Tiger 358 in need of major work.
Thanks for the update and I was in the right place at the right time that day to see you all manoeuvring the Bedford into safety of the museum display shed. :P
