Taxi & minibus fatal collision (Ardmona)

Post by Roderick Smith »

The photos are highly confusing, and don't support the T boning allegation, or which vehicle came through the give-way sign. I'm reposting only two.

I notice in the fleet lists that Nuline 61 is no longer wearing Chadstone Shuttle livery. I can confirm as of 1800 last night the bus was definitely in Chadstone Livery, as I saw it parked outside Hisense Arena. 2 Questions
1. Is it to come out of livery and
2. If so, is it being replaced or is the shuttle being operated by someone else??

Abandoned Mercedes, Wheelers Hill

Post by Roderick Smith »

Just one of the five photos, and turned to b&w to avoid glorifying graffiti.

Roderick.

Wheeler’s Hill Shopping Centre: bus sits abandoned for eight months
Monash Leader July 5, 2017.
AN ABANDONED and graffiti-covered bus in a Monash shopping centre could be being used as a “drug den”.
Every day, hundreds of shoppers walk past the bus, which has been parked near Safeway at the Wheelers Hill Shopping Centre since November.
Kathrin Lenarcic, of Wheelers Hill, who regularly shops at the centre, said she wanted the abandoned bus to be removed as soon as possible.
“It’s a real danger to the community because there is broken glass scattered everywhere as several windows have been smashed,” Ms Lenarcic said.
“It’s covered in offensive graffiti and it’s clearly attracting anti-social behaviour.”
The bus has attracted serious anti-social behaviour, according to a shopper.
There are signs that people may have been using the bus as a place to stay.
When the Monash Leader visited the bus this week, there were mounds of rubbish inside, and it appeared people had been using it as a place to sleep.
Ms Lenarcic said she had contacted Monash Council and police last month, but was told the matter needed to be dealt with by centre management as the bus was on private property.
“I phoned Teska Carson (who managed the centre) ... but they said it was a VicRoads issue,’’ she said.
“I spoke to VicRoads and they told me that it was not their issue and this annoyed me because I feel like Teska Carson had not dealt with my complaint appropriately.”
It is unclear who is responsible for the job of removing the bus.
It has been abandoned in the carpark since November 2016.
Ms Lenarcic said she was concerned about the safety of shoppers.
“There are several people who park nearby in the evening and I’m worried that their safety is at risk,’’ she said.
“It could potentially be used as a drug den and no good can come from that.”
Teska Carson’s Wheelers Hill centre administrator Jimmy Wong said: “Legal counsel have been engaged by our client in order to have the bus removed as soon as possible, and to take action against the owner.”
Monash Mayor Rebecca Paterson said the council had received two complaints about the bus.
“We have spoken with centre management and also met with them to pass on the complaints and find out what is being done,’’ Cr Paterson said.
“As this is a private carpark and is not controlled or owned by the council, the shopping centre is responsible for its removal.”

It’s been announced that SkyBus are furthering their operations into Geelong, after the sudden closure of the local Geelong - Avalon transfer service. Avalon Airport has struck a deal between SkyBus and the Geelong Taxi Network to run a six month operation until Avalon Airport can find a new operator to run the local transfer service.
Geelong, the Bellarine & Surf Coast - Avalon Bus Transfer Announcement

Avalon Airport is pleased to announce that SkyBus has agreed to temporarily take over the Geelong, Surf Coast and Bellarine bus service vacated by the Murrell Group on Friday. Services will resume Monday morning, operating for a 6-month period whilst arrangements for a permanent service are finalised.

SkyBus has also reached an agreement with local company Geelong Taxi Network to provide a pickup and drop-off service throughout Geelong, the Bellarine, and Surf Coast. Whilst all reservations will be made through SkyBus, Geelong Taxi Network will provide a transfer service between regional areas and the Geelong Train Station.

Avalon Airport CEO, Justin Giddings said “We thank SkyBus for stepping in so quickly after the Murrell Group withdrew their Avalon Airport Shuttle service. SkyBus is Australia’s leading airport bus company providing online booking, free Wi-Fi, and will meet every flight at Avalon Airport. The recently introduced SkyBus Avalon to Melbourne service has been very popular and we are thrilled they have agreed to temporarily provide such a valuable service to our local region.”

“Despite the decision by Murrell Group to terminate their services with little more than 24 hours’ notice, I am very pleased that we have been able to assist Avalon customers with alternative arrangements which have included Avalon staff driving customers home.”

“Finally I thank Geelong Taxi Network for their willingness to assist at such short notice, and congratulate them on extending their long standing service to the community.”

More information on ticketing and scheduling will be available from Monday on the SkyBus website http://www.skybus.com.au

Andy ,NULINE Charter have lost the Chadstone Shuttle contract as of 1/7/17 to Bunyip Tours.Bunyip Tours have purchased a Scania /Irizar and a Fuso Rosa to operate the contract which now requires 2 buses. For the altered timetable google Chadstone and then look for Transport.
I understand the Volvo to be dewrapped and used in other parts of Nuline's business.
Hope this helps

Regarding the dumped Mercedes 0303/3 in the shopping centre carpark, what's the go??

Who owns it, and why was it just dumped there.

All seems a bit strange.

Sita were providing last night's North Melbourne to Craigieburn rail buses, using mostly their ex-BT Volvo B10Ls.

Only a few months ago some of these shutdowns were being operated by Transdev, and in the past Dysons also used to have the contract for the Craigieburn line. Perhaps Sita is doing it now because of the issues at another operator.

Sita out helping Ventura on this weeks shutdown. Had their B10L Orana along way from home tonight in Cranbourne just before midnight. On a side note, I'm not sure if the route has been changed to try and decrease the ridiculous travel time from Cranbourne to Dandenong or if it was just a couple of lost drivers but a noted quite a few Rail buses using Thompsons Road and Westernport Highway this morning.

Roderick.

October 4 2017 SkyBus brought back down to earth after launch called off at the last minute.
An express bus service from Docklands to Tullamarine was ready for takeoff on Wednesday morning but was cancelled at the last minute in an embarrassing blunder.
A week ago, the PR agency for SkyBus invited media to the launch of a new airport express service from Southbank and Docklands at Eureka Skydeck.
SkyBus won't be travelling to Docklands just yet. Photo: Roy Chu .
Drinks and canapes were on offer at the event scheduled for 10am on Wednesday. There would be speeches delivered by Lord Mayor Robert Doyle and SkyBus chief executives Adam Begg and Michael Sewards.
Representatives from Docklands Chamber of Commerce, Yarra River Business Association and Southbank Residents Association would also attend, the press release promised.
SkyBus's extravagant launch was cancelled on Wednesday.
The extravagant do would launch a service providing "an affordable and efficient option for passengers looking to get the airport directly", the media release stated, but further details about the service were kept under wraps until the event.
But the big reveal was not to be.
SkyBus cancelled the event minutes before it was set to start, after Public Transport Victoria notified them that the bus service had not been granted all the necessary sign-offs.
"This morning PTV wrote to SkyBus to inform us that they had not completed their review of the proposed services," said Adam Begg and Michael Sewards, co-chief executives and directors of SkyBus.
"We are confident that the review will be completed satisfactorily."
A spokesman for Public Transport Victoria said the organisation "received a business proposal for a new SkyBus service which is currently under consideration".
"No formal decision has yet been made and PTV continues to work collaboratively with SkyBus on the proposal."
SkyBus offers an express service from Tullamarine Airport to the city and St Kilda, and a shuttle service to Frankston and the Peninsula.
There are express services between Avalon Airport, the city and Geelong.

Andy, the rail contracts on Craigieburn seem to be allocated by Metro on an ad hoc basis.Sita and Northern Transit Holdings also seem to have gotten gigs lately.I think Dysons have been on it too.Maybe availabilty of buses and drivers.
I don't think Transdev will get it again, even with their current situation.

In relation to the Driver B/L operations, I noticed a few buses helping out recently on rail and transdev and most recently out at Victoria Park on rail. The former Tourist Shuttle Custom Coaches CB60s and the Denning Manufacturing Low Floor. What's the reason some of the Dennings went to CDC and not all, also the former Tourist Shuttle CB60s were up for sale are they being retained now or just as a temporary stop gap with all this extra work (transdev + rail).

The buses that went to CDC were all allocated to the the Metropolitan Route Services contract.Hence the sale of those buses to CDC.The Denning /CC low floors were on the Melbourne Tourist Shuttle contract. With the cessation of that contract they were put up for sale.As you indicate Drivers have used those buses for the rail work helping Ventura out and helping Transdev out during their current difficulties. The right vehicles at the right time.Wonder if Drivers will change their mind about selling them ??
