BANKSTOWN CENTRAL STAND CHANGES - M90 and M92 SERVICES - From 7 August

Stand changes at Bankstown Central for Routes M90 and M92

From Monday 7 August, 2017

Routes M90 and M92 will be moving to new Stands at Bankstown Central. This change is being made to help accommodate our new Double Decker buses operating on Route M92.
Route Service changes
M90 All services towards Liverpool will now depart from Stand 3 at Bankstown Central (these services previously departed from Stand 4)
M92 All services towards Sutherland will now depart from Stand 4 Bankstown Central (these services previously departed from Stand 3)

Use the trip planner to plan your trip and search services, from 6 March or later, as it has up-to-date timetables and stop information. Download transport apps to assist you with your journey.

Alternatively, you can download the M92 timetable.

We hope these changes help make your journey smoother.
There does seem to be a slight error in it.

Saw both double deckers at Sutherland today about 2.35pm

Also rosters seem to have changed.
Usually when I was there at about 2.30 there was just the one South Granville Metrobus there which would then depart at 14.48 for Parramatta.
Today both double deckers were there when I arrived with the 14.48 being operated by a Menai Blue & White bus and neither double decker moving while I was there.
The preceding 14.35 which was normally operated by Menai today showed Lidcombe on the desto instead of Parramatta but there is no such trip in the timetable - could have been operated by a South Granville Metrobus as I did check the rego but it seemed to start with 53 which are at South Granville. I will need to keep an eye on that.

Confirmed yesterday that the rosters had been changed and that the 14.48 from Sutherland is now operated by Menai instead of South Granvile and the 14.35 by South Granville instead of Menai - it showed Parramatta as desto yesterday and not Lidcombe. Again both double deckers were there but the second one arriving after I got there. I hear the driver of the first one say that he was due out at 15.04 - I dont know who operated it before but it seems both buses have a lengthy layover at Sutherland.
Liverpool has been corrected to Sutherland on the Transdev website.

Except everyone in London hated bendis, so no chance of them reappearing.

While there are over two billion passenger journeys a year on the bus in London, numbers are in decline. Between 2014/15 and 2016/17, the number of passenger journeys made on buses dropped by six per cent, predominantly due to the rise in traffic congestion on the roads.
I wonder how many of that 6% who stopped using buses, switched to cars to get around, thus adding to the congestion?

I doubt many switched to cars, especially with the Low Emission Zone getting stricter in the last few years.

Many in the Australian bus industry should read this also (it refers to the standard British/Australian part-high floor single decker too).

But that is taken from The Grauniad which because of its socialist leanings couldn't be trusted for ''impartial analysis, it's on the same political side as the union.'' :D http://www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewt ... &p=1009297

Normally I wouldn't touch the Grauniad with a long pole, but this is an op-ed from somebody who is a bus user so I think it's legitimate comment. In any case, he raises most of the passenger-experience points that are normally raised in discussion of the various design and operational options for buses regardless of politics.

Anyway, it's a sideline to this thread. I have no problems with deckers being used in long distance routes as they're doing in Sydney. The rut that the poor old poms are stuck in is that they try to use them in every operational context. We caught that disease for too many years too but hopefully we're well beyond that now.

Does anybody know the times the deckers leave Sutherland on M92? Or is it completely random day to day?

Normally the 3.04 pm is operated by a double decker but not today when it was operated by a red Metrobus. The trip after is also normally operated by a DD but again not today and also not yesterday.
I dont know the morning times. In the afternoon both buses seem to be on a meal break at Sutherland before they depart as they are normally both there by 2.30pm.

It is believed that the two Transdev deckers are not running at the moment as some issues are sorted out. The first two Transit Systems deckers are now complete and are due to be delivered shortly.

One of the trips which was operated by the DD is due at Padstow at 15.43 so I suspect it would have been in service. So it looks as though back in service.

The ladder above the front door on those buses, is it some kind of fire escape, or an anti-shrubbery bullbar ?

Double deckers take up less space on the ground, leaving more room on the ground for cars. That is what Constance has his eye on, particularly when giving radio and TV interviews, because that is the real audience for him politically, car drivers.
