Express Charter Service - a mystery

This coach was photographed in the Lewis Bros depot yard in Glynde in the 1970's. Coach maybe an AEC Reliance with Freighter Lawton body, it is air-conditioned (great for its time), it is quite short - possibly 11 metres and yet both rear axles are doubles - is it possibly ex Parlourcars?

Thanks for the reply, I thought the coach was from Parlorcars (my original spelling was incorrect) - the small article has jogged my memory regarding the chassis - not being an AEC!

I remember another post which this vehicle was mentioned.It was with Arnolds Tourist Services in Port Pirie SA,north of Adelaide.There are 2 photos of the coach further down the page on the link below.

Back in the 1960s,there was a workshop/Ampol around 739 Port Road Woodville Park(thats the left hand side heading towards the city) that serviced the coaches.It was run by a friend of ours,Arthur Lee,who later owned the Ampol service station on Port Road Alberton.He used to take us out for a quick drive in those coaches.

Thanks for the connection - I do remember all those coaches absolutely crammed in to the Port Rd Depot, which I knew as Associated Tourist Services.

The ex Parlorcars coach certainly looked a lot better in Arnolds bright and clean colours.

Associated Tourist Services was on 233 Port Road (I think)Queenstown heading towards Port Adelaide. When I worked there in 1984/85 they had buses inside the workshop and buses on the block of land next door to it. Back in the 60s they had a lot of buses then too.The Late Reg McKenzie's Freighter Bodied/Cummins Powered Commer and his Flxble Clipper were kept there too.Back at that time the Cummins was the greatest engine sound of any commercial vehicle. Does anyone have photos of that era?
