PDF timetables uploaded, so to expand in more detail for the more interesting changes...

Wanneroo Rd (Routes 384, 385, 386, 387, 388, 389) - Services coordinated to operate along the common sector at the following day frequencies:
Monday to Friday peak: Every 3-4 mins
Monday to Friday off-peak: Every 6-10 mins
Saturday: Every 10 mins
Sunday: Every 15 mins

Additional trips:
Route 376 - Extends the 10 min peak frequency by an hour longer in each direction with some PM school peak trips having significant variation to running time during school days to account for the longer dwell times due to high loadings.
Route 384 - Two trips to fill in some gaps in headway during the AM peak (both directions)
Route 388 - Hourly frequency during the day on Sundays

Adjusted trips:
Route 345 - Saturday trips adjusted to provide a 20-40 min headway (coordinating with route 343 to provide a bus every 20 mins) during the day with services finishing slightly earlier at night.

Typical Transperth fashion here. Start a trial to get everybody excited, then end it on a negative note for no specific reason.
Transperth Website wrote:Route 97 - Service Changes

From Sunday 13 August, Route 97 services will no longer extend to Leederville Station.

All trips between University of Western Australia (UWA) South and Subiaco Station will continue to operate, however no peak trips will extend north of Subiaco Station.

Route 97 currently operates as part of a longstanding, funding partnership with local organisations. Regrettably, the local council has elected to withdraw from the funding arrangement. As a result, Transperth is required to revise the timetable to operate within available resources.

Transperth apologises for any inconvenience to passengers.

How? The service is part of a funding partnership. If one of them (i.e. the local council in this case) withdraws, then it's not always going to be possible for the remaining funders to pick up the tab. Money doesn't grow on trees for the PTA, so in this case, it needs to be revised to fit within what is funded. Unfortunate, but it happens.

Always thought Leederville was the wrong place for it anway when Glendalough would have better onward connections, and would create a new north-south route (and better coverage of Wembley) rather than duplicating the already frequent Cambridge st services?

The extension was always going to fail - the route between Subiaco and Leederville is too indirect and slow. On the timetable Subiaco -> Leederville = 14 mins, Leederville -> Subiaco = 12 mins. With 97 services running every 15 mins that is an average travel time of 20.5 mins to go around 1500m, which is around 4km/hr - for most people it is quicker to walk. With nearly all passengers from Leederville being transfers from the Joondalup line it makes far more sense for them to stay on the train to the city and then transfer to the Fremantle line - and anyone going to UWA/QEII would use the 950.

In addition, the catchment overlaps with bus routes along Cambridge St which are far more useful and frequent. These sort of trials are just a waste of money - I am sure everyone at the PTA knew it would fail before it was even launched.

As 900 series mentioned, an extension along Harborne St to Glendalough Station would be far more viable. It is a nice direct service with few major intersections to pass - if timetable padding was kept to a minimum travel time would only need to be 15 mins or so which would make it more competitive with train times and much faster for 990 passengers heading to Subiaco. Not only that, but Harborne St is surrounded by medium density housing and would provide a very useful alternative to the 85 (which is horribly infrequent).

PTA/DoT need to chat to Town of Cambridge and City of Stirling and see if they would be willing to fund it. I know Stirling has long-term plans for light rail along the corridor and I am sure the PTA could make a good case that a high-patronage bus route is required long before light rail could be viable.

This is reflected elsewhere in the network. e.g. Aubin Grove has only been open for 3 months and trips have already been removed from Route 537 in changes starting this week (16/7/17). In these days of tight budgets, if something doesn't perform, it gets cut.

Yes i notice with new projects, a tendancy of over-provision (better than under-provision at least). The same happened with Butler, with excess kms cut out when it was clear that selected trips would not perform too well.

In saying that, I was at Aubin Grove last week during the peak. Loadings were looking fairly decent for early days on the 535/537 feeders, which are fairly short routes. The residential areas surrounding have the benefit that they are mostly within a direct bus catchment alignment. No indirect routing required.

A Route 97 extension from Subiaco Station to Glendalough Station is a much better option for this service. It also opens up the possibility of a combined Routes 97 & 406 option to run services directly from ECU to UWA via Glendalough and Subiaco Stations.

Transperth Service Changes - 2017

Post by shinjiman »

There's time changes from 27 August 2017 for following routes:

Timetable 14, 15 (Routes 72, 75, 201)
Timetable 76 (Routes 360, 361, 362)
Timetable 98, 101, 103 (Routes 41, 42, 48, 55, 335, 355)
Timetable 130, 131 (Routes 558, 561)
Timetable 210 (Route 960)

For weekdays:
Additional trip for Route 201 is being added departing 7:35am from Cannington Station and 4:41pm from Bentley Plaza, both trips go via ACTIV Industries. (see below)
The route 335 is being re-listed on Bus Timetable 98 along with the new route 355. (see below) (The previous mention of the withdrawal of 335 seems it's not correct as it was delisted from Bus Timetable 101)
Transperth website wrote: Route 201 - Service Changes

Mon 28 Aug
Effective Monday 28 August, Route 201 will undergo changes as a result of ACTIV Industries relocating a large number of employees to its Bentley office. Changes to Route 201 will be as follows:
  • An additional short service for Route 201 will depart Cannington Station at 7.35am on weekdays operating its normal route to Albany Hwy, then deviating to ACTIV Industries on Ewing St, before terminating at Bentley Plaza Shopping Centre.
  • An additional short service for Route 201 will commence from Bentley Plaza Shopping Centre at 4:41pm, then deviate via ACTIV Industries (picking up at approximately 4.43pm). This trip will arrive at Cannington Station at 4.56pm.
  • Minor time changes to all Route 201 trips departing Curtin University, with the last trip now diverting via ACTIV Industries (picking up at approx. 3.58pm) on Ewing St enroute to Cannington Station.
ACTIV Industries employees should note deviating Route 201 trips will operate through their site with a bus stop located inside their secure compound adjacent to their staff room.
Transperth website wrote: Introducing New Route 355 and Service Improvements to Route 335

Mon 28 Aug
From Monday 28 August, Route 355 will commence operating between Ellenbrook and Whitfords Station. Additional Route 335 trips will also come into effect.

Route 355

The new route will improve access for Ellenbrook residents travelling west, connecting them with train services and 18 other bus services at Whitfords Station. It will run Monday to Friday, every 30 minutes during peak periods, and every 60 minutes during the day.

This new route will:
  • Shorten travel time to Joondalup
  • Provide an improved service for people working within the Wangara area
  • Provide a more frequent service for northern Madeley residents travelling to Whitfords Station
  • Provide a more direct option for northern Landsdale residents travelling to Whitfords Station
  • Provide an alternative option for Ellenbrook residents wishing to travel to the Perth CBD
Route 335

Also from Monday 28 August, four additional trips will be added to the Route 335 timetable, travelling between Ellenbrook Town Centre and Midland. These additional off-peak trips will provide improved direct access to Midland and the Swan Valley tourism precinct.
Transperth website wrote: Service Changes across the Transperth Network

Sun 27 Aug
Effective Sunday 27 August, changes will occur across the Transperth network:

The following services will undergo time changes:

  • The Route 600 trip previously departing Mandurah Station at 3.39pm will now depart one minute later at 3.40pm
  • Route 48 will also no longer deviate to Lindley St and Priestley St due to poor patronage
  • Route 566 and selected Route 568 trips will no longer deviate to Tranby College
The following services will undergo time changes and operate with additional services:
  • 201 – Two additional short trips to cater for the new ACTIV Industries Bentley Campus

Route 335 isn't being withdrawn. In fact, two additional trips will operate in each direction (from Ellenbrook in the AM and from Midland in the PM).

In addition, Route 355 will commence operations. Monday to Friday only at a 30 minute peak and hourly off-peak frequency, between Whitfords Stn and Ellenbrook Town Centre via Gnangara Rd.

Both routes will appear on Timetable 98 (it just hasn't been uploaded yet, but they are in the online timetable).

finally for so long long time ellenbrook people can have bus that connect to whitfords. a bit dissapointed that only run on weekdays and not weekend which is quite useful 60 minute on weekend for people at ellenbrook that want to travel to joondalup area in the weekend. because before i plan to put some of landsdale route (352, 450) extended to ellenbrook and run on the weekend also. if 355 was introduced would that mean 352 will be withdrawn because it goes same route between whitfords landsdale or 352 will stay because it goes different route at landsdale. And who operated 355 will it be Transdev or SWan

The 352 travels a different more indirect route compared to the 355. The route technically crosses over three contract areas, but operationally wise, I'd imagine it'd make more sense for it to fall under the Midland contract. I guess we'll see.

Given that Route 201 now travels from Curtin University to Cannington Station, it could be interesting to consider the feasibility of extending the service through to Belmont Shopping Centre and co-ordinating Route 201 with Route 284 which travels from Belmont Shopping Centre to Curtin University via Victoria Park, creating a circular service. A potential route for the 201 service from Cannington to Belmont could be to travel via Route 294 through East Cannington and Wattle Grove to Tonkin Highway and then via Route 288 to Belmont Shopping Centre.

Route 355 is great news for Ellenbrook commuters. And it will be interesting to see the patronage of Route 335 following the introduction of the additional non-peak and non-school services. When it was suggested that the Route 335 had been withdrawn I had memories of the days when Route 314 operated from Guildford to Upper Swan along the whole length of West Swan Road with a Monday to Friday, Saturday and Public Holidays timetable. Does anyone have a copy of that?

Just grabbed the data from the GTFS (Google Transit) from Transperth Website, looks like Swan will doing this route. Also the stops 27688-27699 will be added along Gnangara Road (on Mirrabrooka Avenue and its west). (edit: Just grabbed the updated version and stops 27721-27724 will be added along Gnangara Road between Mirrabooka Avenue and Hartman Drive as well)

The first service commence at 6:02am from Ellenbrook Central and 6:33am from Whitfords Station, and the last service departs at 6:38pm from Ellenbrook Central and 7:18pm from Whitfords Station. And it seems will doing on weekdays only and no Saturday/Sunday services..

Technically this route will cover four contract areas, from Ellenbrook (Midvale), Malaga (Morley), Wangara (Joondalup) to Bennyup (Karrinyup) areas
