I think I've seen a similar phrase in a photo of one of Light-City Buses' buses, but I've yet to see it in real life. I'll see if I can find that photo online.TA3001 wrote:I think it's just a phrase for not in service. It doesn't really fool anyone, and is less boring to read. What is the Clown and Fairy Shuttle? The mind boggles!

Where was the insufficient clearance located?busrider wrote:Yes, they can. The 2000/2100 class railcars weren't allowed to run on the Seaford line due to cabin height, but that's no longer an issue, since they've all been retired.
There are several old desto codes still available that are never used, this being just one of them. I think some drivers just like using them because they're unusual. Plain old Not In Service does me just fine.TA3001 wrote:I think it's just a phrase for not in service. It doesn't really fool anyone, and is less boring to read. Under all the overhead. The elevated cabs had fibre glass roofs.Skexis wrote:Where was the insufficient clearance located?busrider wrote:Yes, they can. I did wonder if it was a name given for the Southlink driver transport from Lonsdale that usually arrives at Mile End about 1645hrs to collect the Southlink buses that are stabled there during the day rather than travelling empty to Lonsdale and empty back for the evening peak?
Re: The Random Admet Question Thread
Thanks for the location and time.gunzel42 wrote:Mile End Depot, Wednesday 12 July at about 1330hrs.PD2/20 wrote: Where and when was the photo taken?

Just out of curiosity, what exactly is the Southlink Engine idling policy as I saw it posted in another thread but thought it was more appropriate to post it here.
Thanks in advance

Re: The Random Admet Question Thread
I am informed by a driver friend that idling time is three minutes. Makes for a hot or cold wait for the next run, depending on what time of year it is.mmosca447 wrote:Just out of curiosity, what exactly is the Southlink Engine idling policy as I saw it posted in another thread but thought it was more appropriate to post it here.

Here you go. The TLDR version is that anyone who drives an L94 artic will never ever again be warm in winter or cool in summer.mmosca447 wrote:Just out of curiosity, what exactly is the Southlink Engine idling policy as I saw it posted in another thread but thought it was more appropriate to post it here.

Not sure with a mobile, but if using a PC, then click upload attachmrnt below the box where you typed the message. Make sure it's no larger than 800 x 600.
Re: The Random Admet Question Thread
This may be a silly question but does this mean when the bus is sitting at traffic lights, it has to shut off the engine?Skexis wrote:Here you go. Second bullet point covers that.mmosca447 wrote:This may be a silly question but does this mean when the bus is sitting at traffic lights, it has to shut off the engine?
Re: The Random Admet Question Thread
Just out of curiosity and being relatively to new to buses, are the SG280's still available for future rail subs if needed or have they been scrapped? Thanks in advance. I remember riding a few back when the Seaford line was closed for electrification and I loved the scream.
Re: The Random Admet Question Thread
The SG280H buses have been mothballed for some time now and won't see use for any more services in the future. They are stored at Edinburgh North Depot.
Re: The Random Admet Question Thread
Anyone know why Elizabeth has rebranded itself as Edinburgh North? Although the depot is indeed in Edinburgh North it's still listed as Elizabeth on the Southlink website.Eagle Eye wrote:They are stored at Edinburgh North Depot.

Re: The Random Admet Question Thread
It was renamed around 2014 or a bit earlier. The depot is physically located in the suburb of Edinburgh North, not Davoren Park or Elizabeth.

Remember the Bay City Roller Glenelg loop services ran by Holdfast Bay council. What happened to the bus and when did the council scrap the idea?
Next station is Victoria Square. Change here for all trains.

Re: The Random Admet Question Thread
I was reading the internet and saw Edinburgh North, I didn't realise Elizabeth West was renamed in 2011 to Edinburgh North. The bus depot is in Edinburgh North. Any other new suburbs I should know about lol apart from Edinburgh North, Lightsview and St Clair.
Re: The Random Admet Question Thread
I guess you could say Seaford Rise and Seaford Meadows are kinda new.Torrens_5022 wrote:I was reading the internet and saw Edinburgh North, I didn't realise Elizabeth West was renamed in 2011 to Edinburgh North. I've been wondering this for a while now but what is the difference between a Scania L94UA and UB? Thanks in advance

Re: The Random Admet Question Thread
I noticed this bus stop sign on Ocean Boulevard, bus stop 43 on the east side, odd spot to put a bus stop , I gather its so passengers dont have to stand on narrow median strip
