Photobucket Bus photos gone
Photobucket Bus photos gone
Just a heads up that the photo hosting site I've used for the last 12 years, Photobucket, changed their t&c's which resulted in all my links breaking and I cbf reloading them all again.

Re: Bus photos gone
That is strange - we have a lot of users with photos in photobucket and we have links to such photos and they are still working - an example is http://www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewt ... 53#p313453

Re: Bus photos gone
Yes they are gone now and get this
All of Venturatigers photos have gone which is a big loss to me as I still had hundreds of them to move..
I have looked at photos from the other three and they all still appear to be there - maybe they are disappearing progressively. I will need to keep an eye on this .
See how long this one will still be there

These were Venturatiger photos - I have been moving quite a few of his photos from photobucket to our photo gallery as I have been doing wit 2MSJ, Centralian and Windy Khong photos. All of Venturatigers photos have gone which is a big loss to me as I still had hundreds of them to move..

I have moved this to Australian Transport Discusion as it effects all users.
System Improver and Mr OC Benz have also been noted as having their photobucket photos lost.

Re: Photobucket Bus photos gone
It would appear the Photobucket has stopped "Third Party Hosting" on free accounts. The cheapest rate appears to be $US5.99/month to get the facility back - and you have to buy a minimum of 12 months.
The alternative would be to upload all the photos as attachments - which would be a bit of a pain.

I use the site www.imgur.com to upload photos, you don't even need to have an account to upload photos there.

I was also using a lot of old Windy Khong photos but they are now also gone so it is going to become harder to find some variety for the Photo Gallery.
At least I managed to capture 672 Windy photos before this happened.

About images hosted on Photobucket
I'm a new user here, but I just want to get straight to it.
I'm sure some people will know about this already, but just in case, I want to give a heads up to anybody uploading images on the board, please be careful if your image is hosted on Photobucket.
A recent change to their conditions makes them have to pay or something like that to embed images onto a third party site like here. What is already happening is the image is replaced by a photobucket graphic, reading:
"PLEASE UPDATE YOUR ACCOUNT TO ENABLE 3RD PARTY HOSTING"
I'm not familiar yet with the whole photo uploading game (I'll get there later) and at least we can already upload an attachment here, but considering that we need to upload photos to, say, the photos thread obviously, or on a reply to explain or show something, I just felt the need to speak out on it in case it hasn't already been done before. If it has, sorry.

Re: Photobucket Bus photos gone
I had a look into this back in July but as like everyone I was a little disheartened and didn't come up with any resolution.
Upon doing a fresh investigation today I discovered a straight forward soultion to the problem, at least to view the thousands of threads from years gone by!
Various people have written some source code that gets around the issue in Google Chrome and Firefox, which can be added to your browser with just a few clicks. Best of all, it's free!
There is a few different versions, but I used "Photobucket Hotlink Fix" which is highly rated for both browsers (4.5 to 5 stars)
Google Chrome - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... aedg?hl=en
Firefox - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... ucket-fix/
Hopefully you can see the obvious button to add the plug-in to your browser and after a couple of clicks to approve installing it, it will add the source code in just a couple of seconds.
Then you should be able to go to any thread on ATDB that had Photobucket photos embedded and see them again, without the pesky P500 images.
Here is a few of my old threads to test to see if you had success:
http://www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewt ... 43&t=64828
http://www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewt ... 43&t=75140
http://www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewt ... 43&t=80446
In terms of right-clicking and saving photos, in Firefox I have found you need to right click, "Copy Image Address" and then paste the link into a new tab first, otherwise the downloaded JPG won't open, at least in "Preview" on my Macbook.
Be interested to know how others get on with my soultion.
Kind Regards
Craig

Re: Photobucket Bus photos gone
I tried the link to the Chrome website for the Firefox extension and there didn't seem to be an option for the latter.
Anyhow, this is the link I used. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... ucket-fix/
I also loaded that page, and the images show up which is good. Thanks for mentioning (possibly short lived?) solution to this annoyance anyhow.

Glad I was able to help TA3001

Re: Photobucket Bus photos gone
I have been using the Firefox extension for about a week or so which has been great.
Today I had something unusual happen in that when I copied such a photo into a document, the photo would again not display but showed the photobucket message. Bypassed doing that by doing a screen shot.

Re: Photobucket Bus photos gone
I looked up some old photobucket photos this morning without any trouble but this afternoon the extension no longer seems to work.
Strangely of Craigs samples above, the second one is still working. http://www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewt ... 43&t=75140

Re: Photobucket Bus photos gone
I have readded the the extension to Firefox and now it is working again. No idea why it stopped working.
The Centralian link worked with or without the extension as have his other threads while the extension was not working.
