[May/June 2017] SA Transport observations

Post by The Phonj »

Greetings all and welcome to the May/June observations thread. Not much usually happens in May or June, they're typically pretty quiet months.

Tram services will terminate at Brighton Rd due to track renewal and associated road works in Jetty Rd from 15 May for about a month. Refer to the Adelaide Metro website for full details, including bus detours: http://www.adelaidemetro.com.au/Announc ... -to-9-June

Kanga Coachlines are currently operating a staff shuttle service between the current and new Royal Adelaide Hospital sites; running North Tce, East Tce, Grenfell St, Currie St, West Tce and back to North Tce; an easy way to get some photos of the Kanga fleet.

Works associated with the Torrens Junction project are progressing. I understand some slew tracks have been constructed around the worksite; in addition to other works for the project occuring during the April shutdown of the Outer Harbor/Grange and Gawler lines.

Please... Post your South Australian transport observations here that wouldn't seem to warrant their own thread.

Mmmm... in other very important news, stop 36A Avenue Road (Stirling) is going to be shut for 2 weeks, starting next Monday. All inbound 865s and most inbound 866s will be affected, departing instead from Stop 36 Mt Barker Road (Stirling), which was essentially the setup until the January 2016 changes.

1629 broke down this evening at C1 North Tce, due to what I suspect was a fault with the doors. The alarm kept going off, and it's like they wouldn't interlock or something.

Another attack on an Adelaide bus, this time last night on Golden Grove Road Ridgehaven where a projectile was thrown at the bus window, leaving a bullet like hole.
Fortunately it just missed a passenger sitting near the window.Police were called to search the area. The bus was returned to St Agnes depot for repairs.

2 new red Adelaide Metro buses have arrived-a new Mercedes is at Southlink's Lonsdale Depot, whilst another bus possibly a Volvo(unregistered) is at Custom Coaches at Wingfield.
Meanwhile there a still no new Scanias at Scanias Wingfield SA Headquarters-nearly 2 months since the last delivery.

What chassis type is it? Have I missed something? Never heard anything about it.

It's a Euro VI O500LE, with a Citaro-style front on a Gemilang body. As with all new buses, it's in the RedMet livery.

I cannot recall this being posted.

Bus stops have been placed on Martins Rd Parafield Gardens near Shepherdson Rd round a bout. These stops are solely for 404R.

This is after many requests from the lifestyle village. Residents can now access these shops on the 404R.

It would appear that 2 more Light City buses have been retired-MAN NL 202 1347 and Volvo 611.

This may seem really off topic but how do I download the Transit Times app and does it tell me the exact bus number of the bus? Thanks

I believe that currently Transit Times app is unavailable to download.Yes it does tell you the fleet number of most buses up to approx. 30 minutes ahead(you have to select stops/interchanges you want info on.

Do you know if there is any other way apart from Transit Times to view upcoming bus fleet numbers? Thanks again

Speaking of Transit Times, how do you enable the icon that shows whether the service is accessible or not? It'd be good to know so that I don't have to waste data looking up trips operated by CB80s.

If possible that'd be great :)

AdMet's GFTS data doesn't contain information whether a bus is wheelchair accessible or not for third party apps, so there is no way to turn it on.

they probably didn't think it was worthwhile including as Adelaide heads to 100% flat floor buses.

Afterall, how many non-accessible buses are left doing Adelaide Metro work? Just a few of the SL202?

There's the Volvos at St Agnes, and about 100 SL202s that are still in service. 3 of these are almost right at their age limit. Not sure when 1325 was originally built, but I expected it to be gone by April.

... though you need to go to the seating code key link on the home page to discover that the W suffix denotes wheelchair access.

My post had nothing to do with bus accessibility (or lack thereof), it was in response to the remark about 425 (1325)'s build date, which can be found on the Torrens Transit fleet list without navigating to another page.
