[Mar/Apr 2017] SA Transport observations
Re: [Mar/Apr 2017] SA Transport observations
An M44 bus heading to Marion this afternoon was involved in an accident with 2 other vehicles. There were some minor injuries.
It occurred near Raglan Avenue. Heavy tow was used to remove the bus.

Bus involved was St Agnes Artic 1147.

Just saw 1147 drive through PBI, so I don't think that was the one in the accident.
Re: [Mar/Apr 2017] SA Transport observations
It was definitely 1147-saw footage on channel 7 news.busrider wrote:Just saw 1147 drive through PBI, so I don't think that was the one in the accident.

Re: [Mar/Apr 2017] SA Transport observations
But you said the bus was towed. If the bus wasn't damaged, why would it need a tow?
Re: [Mar/Apr 2017] SA Transport observations
I was going on what SAPOL reported-maybe as a precaution it was towed to nearby Morphettville Depot for a check?

Re: [Mar/Apr 2017] SA Transport observations
1147 shown on the news barely had a scratch on it. The tow truck was probably for the cars involved.
Re: [Mar/Apr 2017] SA Transport observations
Another car v bus accident, this time this afternoon when a stolen car ran into the back of a bus in Grenfell Street. The car had earlier been stolen.
Looked like the bus was Torrens Transit Artic 1004 ,which appeared to only sustain minor damage.

Just noticed this on the AdMet website -
http://www.adelaidemetro.com.au/Announc ... ad-removal
It seems strange to remove the stop that is a terminus without changing the bus route! I presume the N254 will still layover in the bay where the bus stop was?

The 11:18am and the 11:48am train from Elizabeth heading south is showing that the train terminates at Dry Creek.

It did seem the up trains were all terminating at dry creek and most likely commencing there. No crossover at mawson interchange and easy to feed drivers and fleet through dry creek station and railcar depot.bigrobbo wrote:The 11:18am and the 11:48am train from Elizabeth heading south is showing that the train terminates at Dry Creek.

Just spotted in Mawson Lakes going to Elizabeth.
3232 is doing a 224F.
Must have been some bus shuffling to cover the rail subs.

That is correct, 6 CB80 rigids from the Hills are in the northern depots for train subs. I've heard it's 3226, 3227, 3229, 3232, 3233 and 3234. I wonder how the drivers and passengers are coping with only 1 door...bigrobbo wrote:Just spotted in Mawson Lakes going to Elizabeth.

Obviously still not enough buses to cover train subs: a long lineup (maybe 6 or 7) Kanga coaches outside Adelaide Rail Station zone D in yesterday afternoon's peak, all displaying ML1 or ML2 on their windscreens.

Southlink North are getting the most out of 3232. It also was on the 9:20pm 228 out of town last night.

Re: [Mar/Apr 2017] SA Transport observations
I highly doubt it would be physically possible to transport all peak train passengers using Adelaide Metro vehicles only, on top of existing peak bus services, even in school holidays.TT wrote:Obviously still not enough buses to cover train subs: a long lineup (maybe 6 or 7) Kanga coaches outside Adelaide Rail Station zone D in yesterday afternoon's peak, all displaying ML1 or ML2 on their windscreens.

Re: [Mar/Apr 2017] SA Transport observations
Yes I agree. Not just several Kanga coaches but also a number of LinkSA buses in the queue as well (both Tues and Wed pm peak) showing ML1 and ML2.
Although interesting to note that Torrens are covering full closure of the Outer Hbr and Grange lines without bringing in any private buses. And they have lost their three R series Artics to Southlink as well. But then I guess the Torrens also have a fair number of their own company owned buses to supplement the government provided fleet. And having enough drivers available is probably as big a problem as availability of buses.

3232 is certainly getting used to working in the North now on the 4.12pm 462 Munno Para to Angel Vale circuit run. Thursday afternoon.

Re: [Mar/Apr 2017] SA Transport observations
You wouldn't expect it to be sitting around the depot gathering dust... why not put it out on services? Statistically speaking almost every working bus at every depot is on the road in the morning and afternoon peaks, as well as some during the interpeak and night time so not sure what the great surprise is here?!route 228 wrote:bigrobbo wrote:Southlink North are getting the most out of 3232. Re: [Mar/Apr 2017] SA Transport observations
Gawler trains run on average every 7.5 minutes during the peak, many 3 carriages, and many with standing loads. Outer Harbor (and Osborne) trains average every 15 minutes, generally 2 carriages and Grange every 30 minutes, also 2 carriages and nowhere near as busy as Gawler trains. Granted, yes the distances on the Outer Harbor line are much greater than Adelaide to Mawson Lakes but the number of passengers travelling during the peak times is significantly higher on the Gawler line than the Outer Harbor and Grange lines.TT wrote:Yes I agree. From my obs, the Outer Harbor trains do not need two carriages after 9PM either. The patronage would barely fill an NL202. I'm not sure why the DPTI continues to waste money letting 2 car trains run mostly empty both ways at night.

Both two trains have to go back to Dry Creek anyway so myswell keep them as a set.TA3001 wrote:From my obs, the Outer Harbor trains do not need two carriages after 9PM either. Next station is Victoria Square. Change here for all trains.
