ACT Police Minister Warns Against Joining Vigilante Group

Post by Bus 400 »

Corbell warns against joining vigilante group
ACT Police Minister Simon Corbell has urged Canberrans not to get involved with the group Guardian Angels.
The vigilante group plans to start a Canberra chapter to patrol areas including the Civic and Woden bus interchanges.
It aims to prevent crime by providing a greater security presence.
Mr Corbell says the Guardian Angels could become the focus of trouble rather than preventing it.
"Really they are setting themselves up to perform a role which is going to look like and is going to make people think that it is some kind of quasi policing type role," he said.
"I think that is really not the job for untrained citizens."
