Buses Possibly Heading To Brisbane

Post by Volvo B12BLEA »

What type of bus and how many are For Sale in Canberra as it was mentioned in the Ch10 News up here in Brisbane that the BCC/BT is possibly looking at buying buses from Canberra to alleviate a bus shortage.

They are also looking at the possibility of getting some from Sydney.

Renault PR100.2's are the ones for sale, I think its mainly (entirely?) Mk1s. Can't tell you much else though.

As for pictures, there are plenty of them in the photos forum :D

Well, actually, any buses that have been playing up for ACTION, any with a dodgy engine, or bad appearence are going to be sold off in the next few months. The number is expected to be high, maybe 20-30 buses being sold off, and these buses aren't limited to the older models. It has been rumoured that even buses in the 900's will be sold off. ACTION musn't be getting much oxygen to the brain
I must say though, you QLDers are particularly lucky, as these buses are fantastic. They have many many more years left in them. Just one concern for you folks up north, these buses get particularly hot in Summer, they do not have A/C, and the windows aren't very effective, so just avoid these buses on those warmer days, and you'll be right

Well, Not only have I butchered a good bus, but also a good livery in photoshop. Thinks me needs more practice at editing stuff like this:

I will fight them with every fibre of my being.
Looks okay PR100, but points off for using 787 as the base.

One of those buses was trialled up here a few years ago before it was delivered to ACTION.

On the Contrary, Busnerd. You could still see some text beneath the ACTION Orange, below the rear window. Something about a Trial Bus. Just shows how cheap and lazy ACTION are, not even bothered to take that tert off

I will so have to look at 113 closer next time. But the same is with buses like 880 and 994. The old AOAs are showing through beneath the wrap.

BTW, some of the .3 have rear warning striping marked "Brisbane Transport Workshops". Can't remember which ones, though.

The BTW, Brisbane Transport Workshops, have their own printing section for things like signs and stickers for buses.
They do a lot of work outside of Council as well. I have seen numerous buses that are with Private Operators with the red / yellow warning stickers along the rear bumper with the wording "Brisbane Transport Workshops".

Let me get this right. Recently we had 20 Iris off the road and we had a bus shortage, but ACTION are planning on selling 20-30 buses in the near future? Guess the number will be a result of this planned network restructure. Seems short minded to me, once the cuts are in place there will be no easy and cheap way to fine tune and maybe restore services to their current levels.

So another question is why is BT going to be short that they need to look at the second hand marker? Yes I know before they have hired buses to cover short falls, inlcuding if I am not mistaken ex ACTION 0305's in STA livery. So have the leases on those buses (were they the Volgren MB 0500's) come to an end or what is the reason.

Overcrowding on buses, passengers being left behind at stops because of "Full Buses".
The O500LE's are still in the fleet but we are still short of buses.

Currently bus patronage in Brisbane is the highest it has ever been!!!!

Demand for buses exceeds supply.
