Euro Truck Simulator 2 What are you driving?.
I thought I should start a thread revolving around discussing such things with the sim.
I'll start off with this:
I am currently driving at school carting in a Valiant (Volvo) Globetrotter FH16 Sleeper and I just bought a 95XF DAF Sleeper.

I'm driving my trusty Scania R620 Topline. It's done 31,192k's. Very nice truck to drive, plenty of power, good fuel tank, and some modifications.
Does anyone still play any 18 Wheels of Steel games? like American Long Haul and Extreme Trucker.

Re: Euro Truck Simulator 2 What are you driving?.
I've got a Scania R730 6x2 in a nice red paint job, with the UK (RHD) cabin, with heaps of lights on the roof and the bullbar. All my drivers (4 so far) have got almost stock standard Volvo FH16s (I removed the sun visor, put on a plain blue paint job, then upgraded the engine).

Re: Euro Truck Simulator 2 What are you driving?.
I've only really liked the Volvo (Valiant) and Scania trucks (i.e. the dash). I've got Volvos for my company (3 drivers + myself). 2 of them are the stock standard ones with single rear axle (Sleeper cabins) while there's one Globetrotter with a single rear axle (mid-spec) and I drive a Globetrotter XL with dual rear axles in which one is steerable (high-spec). Fit out is identical across them all (except two have the RHD dashes).
Here's my one.

Does anyone know what is the cheapest truck to run? I am considering selling all my drivers trucks and replacing them with lower costing ones.

Me, I drive a stock standard Vallient 600hp Globetraveller. I only got the game a few hours ago so I haven't been able to do too much to it.
Cheers!

Re: Euro Truck Simulator 2 What are you driving?.
I don't think fuel efficiency, maintenance costs, etc are really dependent on truck make/model in the game, sure you have to pay those expenses, but a cheap truck or an expensive truck will give you pretty much the same results from your hired drivers... Like I mentioned, I use the base model Volvo truck for my hired drivers, with the cheapest paint job, no sun visor and a slightly upgraded engine.Ryder wrote:Does anyone know what is the cheapest truck to run? I'm currently driving my Scania R420 6x4. This is my fourth truck, I previously had a Renault Premium (I absolutely hated that), a Majestic Across (Mercedes Actross) and a base model DAF. My 20 employees are driving a variety of trucks, including various Volvos, Mercs, Scanias and my old DAF.

The Renault dash is absolutely horrible in my opinion. Engine speed meter doesn't need to be that big! Also I really dislike digital speedos. Likewise, actual cars which have both of these features are also disliked.Artzy wrote:I previously had a Renault Premium (I absolutely hated that)

Re: Euro Truck Simulator 2 What are you driving?.
I have changed!
I went from the Vallient (Volvo) to a Majestic (Mercedes) Across with a 430hp engine, and then changed it to a 700hp Volvo Globetrotter which when I modified it to my liking, it was about $250000...

Re: Euro Truck Simulator 2 What are you driving?.
My Scania got totalled in a horrific tunnel accident. I had the oversize trailer mod and tried to go on the train, and it didn't like my trailer so it glitched out and no-clipped through the train. So then I bought a MAN, did a few deliveries with that, and traded it in for another Scania. This one is a Scania R Normal with a 620hp engine.
Easily misleading as a fast truck as all it is, is the base model Scania with a massive engine!
Just wondering, where did you guys get your game. I bough mine off Steam on sale. Can't wait till they update the steam version to 1.4.x!

Re: Euro Truck Simulator 2 What are you driving?.
I quite like this game. I have had it for a while and used to play it a fair bit. Driven 86,000kms all up in game.
First truck was a black Scania R 4x2 with the smallest engine.
I gave that to one of my other drivers and bought myself a black Volvo FH16 Globetrotter XL 6x4 with the 750HP engine. I pimped this out with many features and it cost me a few hundred thousand euros from memory.
After driving that for 65,000kms it now sits Idle in my garage not being driven by anyone because I downloaded and bought a black Kenworth W900L which I think has a 650HP engine.
I have 29 trucks all black. 1 Volvo, 1 DAF XF, 1 MAN TGX, 1 Kenworth 2 Scanias and 23 Iveco Strallis with the smallest engine. Since the Iveco is the cheapest, I buy them for all my drivers.
I have 27 drivers and 6 depots with 1 million Euros sitting the bank ready for my next depot purchase. The more you buy, the easier it becomes.

Re: Euro Truck Simulator 2 What are you driving?.
I've changed again, now to the Iveco Stralis Hi-Way with a 560hp engine and its a 6x4.
I'm pretty sure I've clocked up 25000km already.
Cheers!

Yep and I pay my subbies crap, import drivers, try using government to make business harder for my competitors and regularly make frequent unnecessary media appearances voicing my irrelevant opinion.

Sounds like you've got the job of being the Fox down pat.
As long as you trot out the old standard "I started carting beer barrels in some shit box Dodge or Bedford when I was 12" as part of each media appearance.

I watched this game's trailer on youtube - it looks good - how much driving -v- management do you actually do??

Re: Euro Truck Simulator 2 What are you driving?.
The management side is completely optional. When you begin the game for the first time, you create a company. You get your own little truck depot (it's not much of a depot at first, more just a shed) and from there you can hire drivers. You need to earn money by taking "Quick Jobs", and eventually you earn enough money to buy your first truck.
RHD vehicles unfortunately use the Imperial system of measurement so the speedo is in mph.

Re: Euro Truck Simulator 2 What are you driving?.
You can build a large trucking empire or you can just drive. You hire drivers, buy them a truck, level them up and they make the money.
It's not really about the management, more the scenery and driving.
It's an ok management system though.

Re: Euro Truck Simulator 2 What are you driving?.
I just use the keyboard myself, I was considering purchasing a wheel (Logitech G27 to be precise) earlier this year, but ended up buying an Xbox instead. The keyboard controls are simple enough to remember, the main keys being the arrow keys for go, stop, steer. I also often press the H key (horn) because the AI in the game tends to be pretty dumb at times...

Re: Euro Truck Simulator 2 What are you driving?.
I use up down left right arrows.
As such I have installed them in the Century Class for added simulation in my realism. It seems easier to reverse trailers in my simulation, and speed limiter tampering would appear much less incriminating and frowned upon than in reality. As yet no one has phoned or emailed my simulated office to complain about my trucks driving erratically at 140km/h.
