Mandurah Station

Post by TP1462 »

A new project page has been added to the metronet website for the Multi story carpark at Mandurah station the third on the network following Forrestfield and Edgewater if more are being added feel free to correct me I know Minister Saffioti is looking at more locations for better land use planning anyway The multi story will increase car parking by a whopping 1,100 bays

Overview
The Mandurah Station multi-storey car park will help ease the growing demand for access and parking at Mandurah Station and will encourage more commuters to use public transport. The project is funded by the State and Federal governments.

The project will involve:

Building a ground plus two-level multi-storey car parking structure within the existing footprint of the northern Mandurah Station car park.
Increasing Mandurah Station’s total parking capacity by approximately 600 new bays to about 1700 bays.
The open deck car park will be designed to maximise security, natural lighting and ventilation while providing shading and weather protection where possible, with lifts, an open staircase and mixed- screen façade.

Construction impacts

During the works, the existing entry/exit road will remain open, however a section of the existing car park, where the new multi-storey facility will be built, will be closed. A significant number of parking bays will be temporarily closed during construction. The Public Transport Authority is currently investigating alternative parking options for passengers during the work.

Further information will be provided as the project progresses.

The new parking structure is expected to be complete in late-2020.
