Re: Metronet costings
After becoming accustomed to the eyewatering costs of projects in NSW, this seems dirt cheap! Better value too than continuously extending motorways that undermine the public transport.
Re: Metronet costings
Most of these are additional expenditure that labor didn’t account for prior to the election such as the removing the 6 level crossings on the Armadale/Thornlie (Mandurah) line between Vic Park & Beckenham for a total of 17 with stage 1 including the removal of 5 as part of the Byford extension, the C series railcar acquisition has been expanded, the Bellevue extension I believe also now accounts for the removal of the Archer street and Robinson road level crossings, the state government does have a road building agenda they’re not proceeding with roe stage 8 so they’ve had to proceed with a number of alternatives to try and calm congestion in South Metro there is at least 30+ road projects in metro Perth and regional WA which either relate to traffic flow enhancement such as grade separation or road widening some of which are necessary for these metronet projects to proceed, the Mitchell freeway is being extended from Hester Ave to Romeo Road planning and construction will be aligned as close to the Yanchep rail extension to reduce overall construction costs and improve road connectivity to the new stations, Tonkin highway is partially being upgraded to freeway standard from Ellenbrook to Southern River as well as widened over the Swan River and through Morley so the Ellenbrook spur line tunnel structures can be built, Tonkin highway is also being extended from Thomas road in Oakford through to South Western highway in Mundijong, a number of enhancements are being done to Reid highway to potentially cater for the future Ellenbrook rail linktonyp wrote:After becoming accustomed to the eyewatering costs of projects in NSW, this seems dirt cheap!
